I was talking with @JoserNunez91 earlier on the phone, and he brought up an interesting question: Have the Union ever lost three straight home MLS games? If the Union were to lose to the Chicago Fire on Saturday, it would mark only the second time in club history that they've lost three consecutive MLS home games (the first being in 2012 against SJ, RBNY, and D.C. United). However, the club has lost four straight MLS home games (in 2024 against RSL, SEA, ORL, and NYCFC), so a loss on Saturday wouldn't tie that record. That said, a defeat would set a new club record: it would mark the first time in Philadelphia Union history that they've lost their first three home games to start a season. I'm not sure what Carnell needs to do, but it's been multiple times now this season that the Union have looked much better in the second half than in the first. They had moments in the second half where they could've taken a 2-1 lead over América, just unable to put those chances on target. If Carnell can get their first half troubles figured out, this team will be fine. Best chances came from forcing turnovers with the press. #Doop

Late night press conference tonight with Philadelphia Union had coach Bradley Carnell, who was asked about being the underdogs in tomorrow's game against Club América. The Union currently trail the series 1-0. "We always try and punch above our weight. We're a club that stands for development. We stand for commitment to what we do in the game model and the philosophy. And we've really enjoyed this role. But there's by no means to say that the giant can't also fall sometimes and stumble, right? So we have to have a positive mindset. We kept the game really tight [at Subaru Park], and I think we have a very possible chance here. Their record has been three and three at home. So three wins, three losses since January. And we've analyzed this. We've had a look. It's a game where we can be excited. Because, you know, this is the game for us where we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Right now we didn't start the season as well as we should have or as we wanted to. With the news that Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner has been suspended without pay through June 1, 2026 by MLS for inappropriate and insensitive comments, Philadelphia Union announce that Jon Scheer, Director of Academy and Professional Development, will serve as Interim Sporting Director.
