But there were probably multiple factors

Wild that every decision Dave Castro has made since returning to the @CrossFitGames has been horrendous.. now to find out an athlete might have died in the 1st event is tragic.

The only temp I can find is an avg of Marine Creek lake that says 89 is the avg. of it’s that. This race should have been cancelled or severely altered.

But what is the water temp? It’s summer in Texas. I have a feeling that water is entirely too hot to be swimming like that in. Also a safety protocol miss.

The cans are to put separation between the drowning victim and the rescuer because rescuers can be pulled under by the distressed swimmer... So yes, CrossFit is to blame for not staffing water patrol appropriately.

@MariahXHoard @rtcox89 @mathsman11 @MackDaddyScott @CastilloBr12747 @HoneyBucketHero @CrossFitGames I turned 40 two weeks ago, currently do CrossFit as a hobby, swam in high school, surfed competitively, and I stand by this being a water safety patrol issue. Competing at anything is dangerous, and that lake was not staffed for safety. It's tragic.

@MackDaddyScott @CastilloBr12747 @HoneyBucketHero @CrossFitGames Swimming has been in many CrossFit games at this point. These high level athletes swim on a regular basis. This comes down to emergency on site not being prepared.

@DirkDavidson @CastilloBr12747 @HoneyBucketHero @CrossFitGames I've been a part of so many run/swim/runs as an ocean lifeguard — people compete in that way often. The problem here is what we see...inadequate safety patrol measures. There should be multiple skis with stokes baskets patrolling at all times (didn't see that) etc.
