MacAllister summary. Masses last season would have told you he’s one of the best midfielders in the league and better than a Guimarães because he won a league title. Means nothing, he was never that good. People overvalued someone like MacA, and undervalued Szoboszlai & Trent.

To explain Alexis MacAllister, I need to refer to Bruno Guimarães. As an elite team, if you want to max out the potential of this role that MacA plays as a 2nd/3rd phase connector & progressive passer, Guimarães would be the minimum level of duelling, ground coverage & 360 degree press resistance you’d want in that role. And interestingly that is exactly who Edwards wanted after Wijnaldum left.

A sign of success this Summer will be how many new signings are in the starting 11 from day one and can stay there. Strong argument now that Thiaw is the only signing since Tonali in 2023 that has directly improved the starting 11. That needs to change.

They just pulled out of LIV golf completely. News is most PIF clubs will have limited budgets this summer for transfers and PIF plan is to sell remaining clubs under its umbrella. Al Hilal first go go with new owners Prince Talal. I think the marketing blitz gave them some recognition now perhaps focused elsewhere.
