Can you make a profit on a 15 cent lighter?
China can.
And it has nothing to do with cheap labour.
Shaodong (a city in China) makes just lighters.
And billions of them every single year.
Here's how:
Every supplier is within walking distance:
* Mould shop
* Logistics Hub
* Raw Material
So, what takes the West weeks (sampling, modifying, producing)
takes China 24 hours.
Western founders want 50% margins.
China runs on less than 1 cent profit per lighter.
And still wins.
Because at 100 million units - 1 cent is everything.
Lesson:
Your margin does not live in your pricing.
It lives in your system.
The lighter is not the product.
It is the proof.

Did you know the U.S. delegation reportedly had one rule before boarding Air Force One in Beijing: if China issued it, it stayed in China?
Not the burner phones.
Not the charging cables.
Not the credentials.
Not the lapel pins.
Not even the gifts.
Everything Chinese-issued was dumped before boarding.
Publicly, Trump and Xi smiled for the cameras.
Privately, the U.S. delegation was acting like every room had ears, every device was compromised, and every “souvenir” might come with a second job.
That’s the real diplomacy.

The regime’s interest has never been fighting corruption. If it truly cared about accountability, it would have listened to the Ugandans who marched to Parliament two years ago demanding the resignation of AAA instead of criminalizing dissent. Even today, any peaceful march would likely be met with arrests and intimidation. What we are witnessing is not reform, but political survival disguised as accountability.

It must be fun right now. I don't think it will be the same the day they come for that Ntungamo factory.
