@GrapeApe9k @joinindustrion Pay is a big one here. I worked as a machinist my senior year of vo-tech highschool and was paid $4/hr less than my friends who worked at McDonald's at the time. Still my lowest paying job to date, and I've worked a few bottom of the barrel entry level unskilled jobs since then

- Middle-class wages. And not "middle-class when the owner was middle-class, 40 years ago". Look at local mortgage prices and what would be needed to afford them.
- Training/apprenticeships. You cannot expect applicants to have 15 years experience in the specific software and machine tools you use.
- Headhunt kids from local high schools. Identify competent, responsible kids and have them on track for an apprenticeship as soon as they graduate.
