I became somewhat obsessed with the idea of Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment being set in modern day, like imagine if Brat (1997) and Romeo and Juliet (1996) had a love child basically. Here's the Results))

you're telling me people actually think first person pov means you have to imagine yourself as the main character instead of it being, like, a character narrating their own story??

House of the Dragon is far from a perfect show, but when people say that a character was better in Fire and Blood what they really mean is that the character they made up in their head while reading is better, which is an impossible standard to meet.
collin@fiendformojitos

I think releasing F&B as a non POV in universe historical text was an interesting exercise from GRRM but it has also caused a generation of fans to latch onto the non POV characters like they’re self inserts in a way that they would not have if any of it was written like ASOIAF

My biggest takeaway is how SO MANY far-right movements had to be planted + continuously funded and massaged behind the scenes. I know this evil is a historical constant, but being far-right is not the default or norm they want us to believe it is.

They cancelled the coolest fucking video game ever because our current “political climate” would cause backlash for a game about killing.. racist terrorists That’s where we’re at btw

Ubisoft canceled an 'Assassin's Creed' game set after the Civil War • Featured a Black Assassin who was formerly a slave • Would fight the emerging Ku Klux Klan • Leadership canceled it — concerned with US political climate & Yasuke backlash (via @stephentotilo)

this is anti-intellectualism. people should be encouraged to critically engage with classic literature—both its transgressive elements and the author’s prejudices. carmilla is a prototypical example of the lesbian vampire trope that heavily influenced film and literature.
chisu 🥖@tamaescence

girl theyre acting dense in my mentions again. read your rape apologia homophobic, pedophilic literature all you want, idgaf. it doesn't change that le fanu's carmilla snuck into the bed of a 6yo laura & bit her chest. the novella is still racist & shit from butt 🤷🏾‍♀️

feels like I'm being gaslit because wasn't this pretty much unchallenged consensus when the movie came out? Like we all agreed it was meant to be an anti capitalist parable in the same vein as Snowpiercer? this site really took a turn to the right in the meantime, huh
Fairy Gothmother, MD@jenny2x4

The point of Parasite is that most people think like this, so most people see the movie this way. It pushes you to make the connection yourself: respectable behavior is a luxury & criminal behavior is a result of the rich leeching that luxury away from the poor…like…like a…
