Good morning and welcome to Fish For Tea Friday
Some things in life arrive uninvited and beyond our control, but they don’t have to close us off from the world.
Never give up on your dreams or goals.
More importantly, never give up on yourself.

Night night sweet dreamies
Some days it feels like you can’t do right for doing wrong… but intentions matter.
If your heart is in the right place, keep going. Kindness speaks louder than criticism

Good morning & welcome to #Caturday
There’s someone out there who still remembers you.
Not because of how you looked or what you did, but because, when no one else showed up with kindness, you did.
Kindness always matters

You are enough.
Not “when.”
Not “if.”
Not “once you’ve…”
Not “as long as…”
No exceptions.
No conditions.
You are already enough.
Just as you are.

-timely professional specialist pall care advice 24/7 and rapid response to those in crisis in all settings
-access to palliative care teams in hospital 7 days/week
-hospice at home expansion in collaboration with acute medicine and primary care
-better resourced and funded primary care with a recognition of the importance of primary palliative care
-palliative care CNS in every emergency department/hospital front door department
-public health level interventions to reduce the misconceptions and fear of terminal illness, dying and palliative care
-dedicated transport for those in the last days of life wishing transfer to hospice care or to community
-increased respite and support for carers
-rapid access to interventional cancer pain techniques
-access to counselling and psychology
-access to complementary therapy, art therapy and music therapy in people own homes
-access to chaplaincy in community settings
-overnight care for those dying at home
-adequate dietician and AHP support for those with cancer cachexia
-more GPs and DNs to meet the expanding population
-dedicated palliative care beds in hospital settings
-training and support for undergraduate and postgraduate health care professionals in end of life care
-increased capacity of social work and family support to meet the increasing levels of social isolation, poverty and addiction
-support for schools and children’s hospices

These are desperately needed and have been for many years.

The goals of good palliative care & assisted dying are the same: to understand & respect dying people's choices. We can help doctors put patient wishes at the heart of end-of-life care. In Dr Chloe Furst's words, voluntary assisted dying practitioner in Aus: 2/7

I had a conversation today about the difference between "kindness" & "niceness" in leadership so I decided to post about it. The article & graphic explain why, as leaders, we should choose kindness over niceness. Kindness is about caring enough to push people toward greatness, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s a harder path but better in the long run:
