Beat Ys: Seven This game is good. It has a pretty terrible start, but it picks up around the Wind Temple. Party system is a good way to segue from the different playable characters in Origin. The new combat is fun, but it’s overshadowed by how badly Flash Guard is implemented.

@makhaccino I mourn everyday that we only got 3 games in this style. It is my favorite era, I could play 15 of those. Not like there are clones either; there's only those 2 Touhou games but they're not that good.

Beat Ys: Origin Second best Ys game so far. Its most definitely the peak of what the combat for the VI engine can offer with there being 3 playable characters, all with their unique styles. Its really cool to see what led to the events of Ys I&II and more of the lore explained.

@makhaccino That DigitalEmelas article is a legit disservice for the franchise. That one image with the chronological became such a reference source that people often hand out to newbies. Imagine playing VI after Oath and Origins, playing Seven after VIII...

I thought this was Ys but the release order just seems so much more superior despite the downsides. I just think for a series like Ys the “game” part holds a lot more weight than the story.

@makhaccino It seems you went from II Chronicles straight to 6. I really recommend you at some point go back and play Dawn of Ys. It's no longer canon but it's a really good game and a straight sequel to II in both gameplay and story.

@Mari_Kroft She'll be the new protagonist. EVE will get captured by Mother Sphere and Lily will have no choice but to to fix Raven, who'll reluctantly agree to help in taking down Mother Sphere and get her redemption arc.
