It's a bit of indictment that supposedly the Den isn't a place you'd want to go to in a 2nd leg of a Playoff Semi Final, yet we've lost all four at this level

@philclarke0170 @1AaronPaul @stevethelionp Hard to criticise Neil when he's got so much right this season. 10/15 before subs, Sturge was pushed very high but no deliveries. Put Doughty on to do that, but Hull immediately exploited the 1v1. Hindsight, eh.....

Spot on Aaron. Basically should not in any circumstance be relied to defend 1v1
As I say. All flows back to emakhu / Watson / ballo.
If any of those three were doing the biz on the left you’re not taking Sturge off.
Doughty was a winger early career. He’s dropped imo as fitness has been more of an issue.
If needed should have been a direct replacement for ballo.
And a cardinal sin making defensive changes when defending a free kick. IMO

I don’t think the criticism of Doughty brings anyone pleasure.
But look a bit deeper. We’ve had a problem on that left side all season and prior.
Ballo has had some good highs. Overall wildly inconsistent and largely anonymous offensively these past 4/5 games.
Sturge was playing well last night. Containing Hull’s threat. But we offered very little down the left.
The change that was obvious was Watson for Ballo.
So how bad does Watson have to be viewed by AN to chose Doughty for Sturge instead?

@philclarke0170 Bringing Doughty on was the right move, but he needed to be in front of Sturge, not replacing him. Rare example of AN taking a substitute gamble that hasn’t paid off this season. Gutting, but we’ve made huge progress in a short space of time. Huge summer for recruitment.

Fact he didn’t play up there or tonight when we know how highly Alex thinks of him is very telling.
Almost like he was told not to play him if he’s not signing the deal we’ve put n front of him.
Very sad it’s got this late in the day and suspect like you he’s going.

One of the things that has gone largely unnoticed tonight is the fact that it’s very likely we will have seen Billy Mitchell wear the shirt for the last time. Hard to believe he wouldn’t have come on if he was guaranteed to be a Millwall player next year.
If this is the case it’ll be a shame to see an academy lad that’s been great for us leave for nothing.

Love Alex Neil, he’s the right fit for this club in this phase and hope with all the ins/outs this summer he had a proper crack with a good squad next season

No idea what Mrs Bannan is up to.
No one put a gun to BB’s head and forced him to come here. He’s been widely well received at club.
Ok he’s not been used much by AN and perhaps there’s something behind that we don’t know but still…
Silly really as there’s no guarantee swfc would want him back anyway. 10 yrs of him nearly bankrupt them and they need a fresh reset not the past.
None of this makes it easier for him either way.
