@anymanfitness Dude, this is some of the most mentally weak shit I’ve ever read in my life. Glad you were able to finally man the fuck up, brother

Today marks the 3 year anniversary of quitting marijuana forever.
I'm never going back.
It's a bit of an embarrassing story, but I've always been a dude who talks about the mess ups, so hopefully people can learn from my mistakes.
So, here goes...
Pot was legalized in Michigan in 2018. I was excited about that. Fell hook line, and sinker for the 'it's healthier than booze' rhetoric.
So, I switched to THC on the weekends. I was responsible with it. Never used it during the day. Waited 'til the kids went to bed. Didn't effect my business, relationships, or anything else.
Problem was, once I got used to sleeping with THC in my system, it became harder to sleep on the weekdays. So, I started using it on the weekdays, too.
I also started using vapes, because I didn't want the smell all over me.
BIG mistakes made.
Over time, the marijuana completely changed me.
I became anti-social. Didn't want to go out, and when I did, I just kept thinking "when can we leave so I can hit my pen"?
I became moody and irritated at the smallest things (emotional regulation takes a back seat when you're using THC regularly).
I became anxious all the time. I kept thinking "this is helping with stress/anxiety" but I started to realize it was CAUSING the stress and anxiety. I had never been a stressed/anxious person - I had always been calm and confident, and that was no longer the case.
My brain was always fuzzy, and I hated it. On more than one occasion, I would go to the store to pick up some groceries and literally forget what I was supposed to pick up by the time I got there.
I decided to quit, and went cold turkey after a few years of daily use.
For those who think marijuana isn't 'addictive' think again. Perhaps not physically, like booze or heroin, but wild dopamine swings can mess you up, big time.
I went manic for a bit due to not sleeping for 4-5 days in a row. I had massive panic attacks unlike anything I had ever experienced. I lost a lot of weight (10 pounds in 2 weeks). I had zero appetite.
It was god awful, but I'm glad I went through it.
It took me a good 6 months before I started to feel normal again - that's another thing nobody will tell you. If you mess with artificial dopamine substances, it will take time before you feel "good" again.
After about 9 months, I felt entirely back, like myself 100%.
If you're using THC daily, a few thoughts that may help you:
1. You are addicted.
If you're using a substance on a daily basis, and you can't go a day without it, that's addiction. Your copes are bullshit - I used them all the time (I can quit when I want, I just don't want to, etc).
2. It's only a matter of time before it "turns" on you.
THC is fun, until it's not. And you'll know when it's not. Listen to that voice in your head telling you you should stop (I should have listened to it long before I finally took action).
3. You are not the best version of yourself you could be.
Everything in my life is better after getting clean. I have my wit back. I'm shaper. I'm more confident and outgoing. I love going out socially again. Business has never been better (revenue has skyrocketed in the past 3 years).
My relationships with my wife and kids are better. I sleep like a rock. Workouts are better, physique is better - it's ALL better, many times over.
I'm never using that shit again. I was embarrassed by my habit, and I should have been.
Sobriety is never embarrassing.

It’s always the midrange demons who wanna take away the 3 point shot
NBA Courtside@NBA__Courtside
Paul Pierce says the NBA should change the three point line to a LED line that just comes and goes “Like you can turn it off, turn it back on in certain times of the game. Like, if you are down ten with three minutes in the 4th. It’s just ridiculous how I have watched games, it would be next three minutes of all threes. Like, 48 minutes a game the three point line should be on only like 30 minutes. Then we going to see who got game, then you going to have to get buckets now. You ain’t just going to be launching. You going to have to get money” (Via @NFGShow)
