Re: Chatbots. For the company, they reduce cost. For me: I've already tried the obvious, so when I use a chatbot, I always need the option "can I speak to a human". So, my message to all such companies is: you're looking through the wrong end of the telescope.

The UK is drifting, unhappy, losing faith in previously respected institutions (like the police), buffeted by extremists (often allowed to run amok), dismayed by decline, angry at the inability of the political class to do anything about it, despairing that the Westminster politico/media bubble pursues an agenda, issues and priorities (look at the obsession with Lee Anderson) which are not most people’s — and had enough of being lectured to by a disconnected, de haut en bas chattering class. Yet we have a Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition incapable of speaking up for the moderate majority, who still have pride in their country and are desperate for strong leadership and guidance through the current morass — plus some hope/sign things will get better — all within the bounds of traditional British tolerance and fair play. This vacuum is dangerous.

@reece_dinsdale I've been interested in current affairs my whole life. It dawned on me that, ala The Matrix, very little of what I see/hear/read is "real" - they're just digital inputs to my devices which might as well be a simulation! Instead, I'm focusing more on those around me- & I'm happier

About six months ago my neighbor asked me for the WiFi password, I gave it to him because it didn’t cost me anything and because I got along with him. Yesterday I was walking home and he was at the door, I stopped to talk a bit as usual and he happily told me he now had Netflix. At that I jokingly said, “I work hard barely have time to watch TV but it’s great if you could lend me your password to watch some shows I’d appreciate it.” A voice was heard in the distance, it was his wife sitting in the car, “we can’t give it to him because I’m the one who pays and I can’t share it.” The most total silence rained. The man apologized, subheading I said there was no problem. We kept talking about other things as they went in he stayed out doing his stuff. Shortly thereafter his wife came out to call him she seemed very nervous, said “the television wasn’t working,” my neighbor came into my house, I looked out the window, after a few minutes, he and his wife came to call me and told me the WiFi wasn’t working, that the password wasn’t going in. I looked at them and said, “I changed my password because it’s me paying and I can’t share it.” The wife turned red and tried to say something, but I said, “ma’am, I have my network and you have your Netflix, everything is fine, everyone is happy.” They turned around and left closing the door. They never spoke to me again. This story isn’t mine but here’s the lesson I learned from it, friendship must be mutual, love must be mutual, affection must be mutual, sharing must be mutual. Life is give and take.

@LizKershawDJ If you really care about your tenants, don't cloud it by making it seem you're hard done by. If you put £12k down that's a good while back, you've probably made a mint on the property value. Reduce their rent a bit.

Even in the light of all Boris Johnson’s abuses of power, I still can’t help being flabbergasted that someone can be made a peer, able to influence our legislation for life, without anyone other than Johnson knowing what on Earth she’s done to deserve it. How can this be?

@RealEddieHobbs You can't infer anything from lines on a graph or historical temp comparisons. Such an argument displays total ignorance of the main point. Which is that what matters is establishing causal links eg between human co2 output and the effect of co2 on ecology, weather and temp.
