I feel like I talk about this every quarter, but I’ll say it again. We’re not being invested in. The days of Black ppl, especially women/queer folks/etc., being staff writers are a thing of the past. There are still a few left, but most of us have been forced into freelancing.

The worst part about this cyclical “where are the Black journalists/Black women in hip-hop media” conversation is nothing is gonna change. Non-Black ppl rule media, *especially* hip-hop. We’ve been sidelined in our own game. Most ppl see these discussions, shrug, and move on.

✨ Today was my last day at PEOPLE Magazine as part of the latest round of layoffs.
