I used to take the $.25 to swim in the Hollywood high pool and go watch a double bill on Hollywood Blvd. I was a producer in advertising for 45 years so I know how possible it is to fool the eye. The WHCD should not be at a hotel, but there are a lot of other venues besides the White House. The WHCD is about the 1st amendment and celebrating amazing journalism. It is not about any one president, and having it at the WH makes it about the president and his or her friends or preferred journalists. It takes an entire political party out of the equation. Yes, there needs to be a more secure location and we have accomplished that with inauguration parties and party conventions. The WH is not the solution.
