I don’t think the way Israel was founded in the vacuum of a defeated Ottoman Empire was good. But how is its creation fundamentally different from all nations, most of which were formed after empires collapsed, borders were redrawn, and populations were displaced?

It's not that "Israel can do no wrong," but rather that *everything* Israel does is wrong to lefties and that it's somehow the worst state to exist since Nazi Germany. It's the hyperbole that pisses us off, particularly when it's helping lead to global violence against Jews.

Democrats still haven't learned their lesson: they don't understand power. We are wasting energy on some two-bit streamer who is both low-iq and has insanely bad views and refused to endorse Kamala Harris. When we will we stop with the own goals? We don't need this shitbird.

I'm confused about which antisemites are acceptable company and which are not. Hasan Piker has said "America deserved 9/11." After Oct. 7 he berated a listener who condemned the massacre ("suck my d*ck") and said "It doesn't matter if rapes f*cking happened on Oct. 7." He's called Orthodox Jews "inbred" and has repeatedly minimized Hamas' extremism. Crooked Media has had him on multiple times, well after all of this. Their hosts haven't, from what I can tell, returned reporter calls about the relationship. They're actively fundraising for the one candidate unapologetically campaigning with Piker. I doubt this is sincere conviction. It's a calculated bet on a slice of the online left, and they don't think their audience even deserves an explanation.

Nearly every single pro Hasan Piker take I've read in the past 24 hours abstracts away his views and behavior. Big tent, anti-establishment, diversity of views. We don't do that for those to our right; we get specific. So, if we are to have this debate, let's actually name the views and the behavior.

It’s disheartening to watch some Democratic politicians and pundits align with the most morally vacant and dangerous people in our party, just as we watched happen on the right for over a decade. Too many Democrats are deciding one compromise at a time that their political survival matters more than principle. Anyone who embraces hatred cannot call themselves progressive; they are simply an emerging version of MAGA on the left. Aligning with and supporting misogynistic, bigoted and racist behavior is a moral stain on our party and a stark warning sign for our future.

I really do like Tim but this is one of the fattest Ls he's ever taken. In just three minutes Sarah shows exactly why we shouldn't welcome Hasan into the coalition by exclusively using his own words.
The Bulwark@BulwarkOnline

"I could think of 1000 other things I would rather Democrats pick fights about now. Like, why him right now?" "Because he's making their life harder." @Timodc and @SarahLongwell25 spar over one of the biggest questions facing Democrats right now: what to do about Hasan Piker?

@JoeBanner13 I still like Tim but his take is a total L and Sarah schooled him. This could not be easier: there is so much space to just ignore Hasan Piker. We do not have to be screechy cancellationists, but we don’t have to give him a seat at the head of the table either.

We don’t want to cancel Hasan. We just don’t want all that anti-American stuff anywhere near our party. He can hate America and democrats all he wants on his little streaming show. He just can’t do that over here.
Ro Khanna@RoKhanna

.@Timodc gets it. Our party leaders should not be cancelling anti-establishment voices and build a broad pro democracy coalition. Even scolds welcome!

@AriFleischer NATO is a defensive alliance - it isn't a military reserve for American wars of aggression. The failure to consult before acting, the insults, threats and high handed demands after the fact might suggest that there will be few takers for a 'new' alliance.

@Villgecrazylady This is just a gross, gross, gross take. What is wrong with you? It is a moral failing to bemoan the existence of a holocaust memorial because you are upset with the modern state of Israel. This is repugnant.

This shit is so weird. 1. There’s literally a giant ass Holocaust Memorial smack in the middle of Boston. It’s like a whole friggin park. They have tour guides and everything. 2. The Holocaust didn’t even happen in America. The victims weren’t even American. Why TF does every city in America need *multiple* memorials/museums dedicated to this foreign historical event???
Only In Boston@OnlyInBOS

Boston's first Holocaust Museum will open this year at 125 Tremont Street. It will feature real artifacts, survivor stories, and interactive exhibits designed to confront hate and make sure history is never repeated.
