I don't think Mikel Arteta or Pep Guardiola deserve the Premier League manager of the year award. In all but 5 of the 25 completed Premier League seasons this century, the manager of the season award has gone to the winning manager. The exceptions were: -George Burley with Ipswich in 2001 (finished 5th) -Harry Redknapp 2009/10, Spurs (4th) -Alan Pardew 2011/12, Newcastle (5th) -Tony Pulis 2013/14, Crystal Palace (11th) -Jurgen Klopp 2021/22, Liverpool (2nd, FA Cup and League Cup winners, UCL final) In my opinion, it should go to the manager that has over-performed the most given the resources available to him. I don't think that's Arteta or Pep. I think it's Keith Andrews.

@DougieCritchley @JDHarding585062 The best premier league team ever? All the success City have had has been done under a cloud and bought their way to success. Dodgy club and dodgy owners and managers along with their dodgy sponsorship deals.

"What's happened to the Premier League?" Klopp left, one of the greatest Premier League managers of all-time and the best players of his side Van Dijk, Salah, Robertson, Trent, Mane, Firmino... all either got deep into their 30s or left the club. Man City lost the bedrock of a side that DOMINATED English football... De Bruyne, Gundogan, Ederson, Walker, Cancelo, Alvarez, Mahrez... many of their replacements haven't quite hit the same level. The world's best talents... Mbappe, Bellingham, Khvicha etc chose to sign for clubs outside the Premier League. One of the Premier League's best players in Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich. A number of star players outside the Top 6... Olise, Raphinha, even players like Huijsen and Zabarnyi, left for the biggest clubs in Europe. Put that all together... and is it really any surprise that the Premier League's form in Europe has taken a downturn? The real star players, are as usual (bar a few exceptions) playing outside of England.

@94lfc94 @DougieCritchley That doesn't make any sense. The original piece was the players that have replaced Ederson Walker DeBruyne Gundogan Etc... haven't quite hit the same level. That's absolutely impossible. All you have to do is look at the names of the players mentioned above.

@JDHarding585062 Which replacements do you think have got to the same level out of interest? Of course it's early days for some... but City's results over the last 2 seasons suggest it's far from a guarantee they'll get there. And it's no slight, was the best PL team ever.
