@BigBlindBets13 @kwill44 @PolymarketHoops Not really too much to be scared of, he’ll be 32 going on 33 and constantly injured, and want a max deal. That will affect how much they offer much more than will he leave a year later. Teams aren’t really scared if a guy might want to play somewhere else.

@BigBlindBets13 @kwill44 @PolymarketHoops This whole “teams have no choice” idea you’ve got is dated. Stars choosing where they get traded has ended badly pretty much every time other than AD. It’s not 2022 anymore, there’s plenty of examples of this being a losing strategy.

It’s hardly free when he’ll be 32-33 with Embiid level availability demanding a max deal. It’s not even good team building to do 2 max superstars.

If the bucks don’t get a favorable offer, use their lottery pick this year to get a stud and ride it out with Giannis for one more year, and let someone give him a max deal going into age 33.

Yea I just disagree with the premise. “We saw Jokic and Russ win MVPs with worse seeds.” Well, they weren’t competing with 2026 SGA. The question isn’t “is Luka having an MVP-caliber season?” It’s “who is the most valuable player of this season?” Each MVP race is its own thing.

What about the part where nobody thought the Lakers were going to be any good and he has them as the 3 seed whereas everyone had OKC as the overwhelming favorite and they have a winning record without SGA? I get that won’t matter though cuz voters would have to basically be admitting they were wrong about the Lakers. As far as the stats go I guess if we have to go in that deep whatever but you can also just say Luka is up in the 3 main statistical categories and the team has a losing record without him. I mean we saw Russ and Jokic win mvps on worse seeds simply cuz their stat lines

@holl6948 @NotAnOKCFan Yeah, that doesn’t make the trade a mistake. Every single one you mentioned had problems that caused them to not win the title that really didn’t have to do with the initial trade. How would the wolves and Knicks currently be in better position now without Gobert and Mikal?
