CONSCRIPTIVE BIRTH: I've yet to hear a convincing argument for why Conscription for War is a legitimate thing, but Conscription for Pregnancy is not. Would you support a Maternity Draft as part of a program of Reproductive Conscription to stave off collapsing birth rates? ARGUMENT: Any woman who was unmarried or not already a two time parent, would be required to sign up to give birth to a child with a father of the State's choosing, screened from among the best of all donors. Mothers would be provided a stipend and benefits to cover the child's care until adulthood or could place the child up for adoption. She would be required to give birth at least four children to complete her term of service. All medical, nutritional, and other concerns would be paid for by the state while she was pregnant.

The quotetweets are all you need to know about the type of “Christian men” we’re dealing with who scream at women because they cannot control their passions. I’ve been reliably informed the photo was not that bad. I will apologize for posting a photo at all but the content of the tweet was actually genuine and it was a good convo. I was super nervous to jump in and I ended up making friends with them (I’m usually very reserved and don’t talk to anyone at the gym). Just wanted to document it. God bless

You’re waiting to cross the road with your children. If you press the red button, light turns red for cars and you can cross safely. If you don’t press the red button, you have 50% chance of getting hit by a car. Unless it hits your kids first, that is. What do you do?

You get more of what you pay for. Autism funding (Medicaid) is up from $660m 2019, $2.2b 2023. Transgender, relatively unfunded, unless you can get the state (military, prison, medicaid/CHIP) to pay. Schizophrenia (SMI/SUD, the primary 'chronic homelessness') disease, direct treatment funding is declining. So autism, while very much a real thing, got a lot of money behind it, and the diagnosis broadened, and schools/Medicaid got mandates. The number of people billing that funding grew at a CAGR of around 50% (and keeps growing). Some of that is better understanding and diagnosis, some is grift. The direct transgender diagnosis stuff didn't get a lot of insurance money or mandates, unless you're in certain state programs, which are expanding. Which is why you see a lot of pressure on government programs to comply. Join the military, your sex disease is free. Schizophrenia/Substance Abuse dual diagnosis is actually seeing shrinking public funding, as the costs get shifted to the general public. 'Not our problem' says the people getting your taxes. The direct cost of a SMI/SUD person is around $120k per year per person in direct and indirect costs - or $366b in the US. Government/NGO funds $47b of that directly, you fund the rest in your higher housing, healthcare, insurance, property damage...and the occasional knifing or subway pushing.

Feminism vs. Autism vs. Transgenderism: Have you considered? I understand this isn't an angle people typically approach at but I want you to think about this in terms of the Trans movement... No, REALLY THINK ABOUT IT IN THAT CONTEXT. What if (nearly) everyone who thinks they're autistic is really just under the same kind of warped programming that convinced a bunch of teenagers they were trans. Body Dysmorphia exists, and so does Autism.. but... and bear with me here... what if the overwhelming majority of people who think they have these things just don't, but were convinced they do by a Left that would do that very thing.

You are offered a pill. Anyone who takes the pill, dies, unless over 50% of humanity takes the pill. Obviously, you cannot be affected by the pill if you don't take it. Is the same moral scenario as the red and blue buttons?

My town of Memphis competes internationally in the top 10 most dangerous cities *in the world*. We don't make the list every year, but we do give it our best. Our high water mark was 5. But usually we're just scraping by at 9 or 10. There are other towns in other states that have gone 20 years without a murder. So generic statements that "EU is dangerous" and "US is worse" are kind of meaningless. On the plus side, when people tell me "Oh, don't go there, it's dangerous!" I can give them the side eye. 🤣

They are not the same. In the button scenario, it's both a moral and a logical issue. Do I have the right make my life the responsibility of some other person without their consent (blue button). And the answer to that is always 'no'. The logical side is obvious, everyone presses the red button, lives. Then you hunt down the bastard that made the buttons and kill him. 🤣 I thought the morality was blatantly obvious - red is the only moral choice. Boy was I wrong. In the pill issue, it's a 'should' issue. 'Should I risk my life to save random humanity that were dumb enough to take the pill?'. And the moral answer to that is 'Of course not.'. And I'm not even a libertarian. Or all that philosophical. Probably not all that moral, for that matter. 😝

After years of dedicating countless hours & over 74,400 posts. $439 over 2 weeks. 𝕏 doesn’t owe me anything & I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve gotten only through creating this account. I did have a lot of hope that I’d be more successful on this app though, it’s possible I overestimated my ability to connect with my fellow countrymen Or it’s my rigidity in my ways. I don’t know. What I do know is that I don’t plan to stop, I just have to find a different way to make ends meet. That might mean working more hours doing tires, or picking up sponsors that actually can fill in some gaps. Either way, we have a Country to save

BREAKING: The DOJ has arrested a special forces soldier who made $400,000 betting on the removal of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, according to ABC. Federal investigators say the soldier bet more than $33,000 just hours before Trump announced Maduro's capture. The special forces soldier was reportedly directly involved with the capture. "The largest position -- a $32,537 bet that Maduro would be out of office by Jan. 31 -- resulted in a 1,242% profit of $404,222," ABC News reported. "Following his successful trading relating to Maduro- and Venezuela-related contracts, [Gannon Ken] VAN DYKE allegedly sent most of his proceeds to a foreign cryptocurrency vault before depositing them into a newly created online brokerage account. The same day of the operation, VAN DYKE withdrew the majority of his allegedly unlawful proceeds from his Polymarket account..." the DOJ announced. "VAN DYKE, 38, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, is charged with three counts of violating the Commodity Exchange Act, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison; one count of wire fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; and one count of an unlawful monetary transaction, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison."

The Potassium Holocaust Brought to you by the FDA, for equity. Potassium deficiency is almost universal. Only 3% of the US population gets the FDA recommended 4,700 mg per day. The result is widespread high blood pressure. Some studies have found that even modest potassium supplementation reduces cardiovascular mortality by a whopping ~30%. Grok estimates 20,000-60,000 deaths annually are caused by potassium deficiency, mainly through its effect on blood pressure. That's just in the USA. Obviously, more people should take potassium supplements, so the government stepped in to make that impractical. You see, excess potassium can be dangerous for people with kidney failure, who are disproportionately Black. So FDA regulations effectively limit potassium supplements to 99 mg, which is 2% of the FDA's recommended daily intake. To get the FDA's recommended potassium intake with the biggest supplements the FDA allows, you must take 50 per day. For reference, one 6-oz glass of tomato juice contains 400 mg, which is 8% of the FDA's recommend daily intake, and 400% of the FDA's maximum allowable potassium supplement. grok.com/share/c2hhcmQt…

I don't like to post about stuff like this, but holy crap. I'm trying to identify the source of some inflammation, so I'm on a strict elimination diet, only 4 items: Coffee Eggs Salt Whisky I didn't do this to lose weight, but my weight is dropping faster than a wannabe actress when Harvey Weinstein unzips. I've lost 5% of my body weight in ten days. That works out to more than a pound a day, and for me, that is huge. Now I'm only 15 lbs above my ideal six-pack weight of 190, and if I drop to 185, I will look like a German soldier on the Soviet side, six months after WW2. Losing a pound a day should be impossible, since a pound of fat is more than my daily caloric requirement. So some of that must be water weight. Nonetheless, the mirror and my belt tell me I am losing fat fast. Complication: I'm also taking Tirzepitide. It kills my hunger (I'm eating all the eggs I want, and not suffering at all) but Tirzep has never worked this well before. I don't know if it's the eggs, or the simple, non-tempting diet, or the zero carbs, but holy crap. Dropping pounds has never been this easy.

Whether you call it 'hybrid warfare', or old-time Soviet 'active measures', the US is at war with Russia. We just don't want to think about it. Hence the appeasement and "maybe they'll just go away" attitude. Won't work. Kind of sucks to think the Cold War is over, just to find it isn't, really.

Yes. Which is why his pro-Russian views weren't even discussed - people were more focused on domestic issues. People, as a general rule, vote for domestic issues first, foreign policy - for the median voter - is not even secondary, but tertiary. And one of the reasons why that's the case is because Europe - collectively - still refuses to officially acknowledge that we are at de facto war with russia. In most people's minds, the war is just between Russia and Ukraine, not between Russia against Europe, or let alone - the ACTUAL war, the new global, Cold War, between the Western world and the China-Russia-Iran axis. Expect more populism, not less.
Daniel Szeligowski@dszeligowski

But Radev did not win because of Ukraine/Russia. Just as Magyar did not win because of Ukraine/Russia. And as much as Trump did not win because of Ukraine/Russia. People in Europe (but also in the US) are increasingly worried about domestic issues, less so about foreign policy

This is a complicated moral question, it's been troubling me for years, and I still don't have a stable answer. Most of the arguments for leaving the Sentinelese alone are romanticizing noble-savage bullshit. We know what life in societies like this is like - nasty, brutish, and short to a degree modern Westerners not only fail to understand but have difficulty even imagining. Technology and wealth can fix that. On the other hand, it is undeniable that contact with modern civilization would in a very meaningful sense destroy the Sentinelese; this experiment has already been run on their kin in the rest of the Andaman Islands and the results were dolorous. Many would be killed by disease. Many others would become addicted to alcohol. Still others would evade both those fates only to find that they're still incapable of having any role in modern society other than as dependents and impoverished day laborers. Only a lucky few at the right-hand end of their IQ bell curve would integrate successfully. The utilitarian question is whether improving the quality of life for their talented tenth outweighs what modernity would do to the rest of them. And there's another point: the Sentinelese have made it very clear that most of them want to be left alone. It's easy to argue that we're obligated to respect their autonomy, but - what of the children who gaze at passing ships and dream of escaping the primitive grind of their lives? This is a more significant question when you reflect that in societies like these a significant fraction of those children are quite likely to be raped by the men in their tribe before reaching adulthood. Such behavior is sometimes ritualized as tribal custom; field anthropologists know this, but generations of them have been politically conditioned never to reveal facts about the societies they study that could be construed as arguments for Western superiority. There are no facile answers. It's a variant of the trolley problem - we know that leaving the Sentinelese alone conduces to many kinds of harm, but busting their isolation would open them up to many different kinds of harm. Hands-off is an easy policy. At least we can tell ourselves we're not actively doing damage, and that what they do to each other is on them. I do wonder how often the children are being raped, though.
Marcus Pittman@ImKingGinger

Raise your hand if you think it's immoral to keep tribal groups like the people of North Sentinel Island from the blessings of modern technology, comforts, health and medicine, and electricity just so we can "preserve them" as a zoo and museum exhibit for people to observe.

Studio replicas predated printing by far, in every culture that produced painted art and statuary. In Europe, the workshop was a 'bottega' in Italian, or 'ateilier' in French. In the US, the practice continued with the American Pastoralism movement into the early 20th century.
