@GovStitt Great leadership! 23% of SNAP dollars are spent on non-nutritional items, soda, candy, desserts. This policy is a win-win!! Save taxpayers and improve health!

SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program— nutrition is literally in the name. Candy and soda isn’t nutritious, and it certainly shouldn’t be paid for on the taxpayer’s dime.

I think SNAP benefits should be based on: ✅How much a healthy, realistic diet costs based on current dietary guidance, food consumption patterns & food prices ❌The cost of the 1962 USDA Economy Food Plan, adjusted for inflation

4. We will see what the finally tally is but at this point, I suspect OK will be one of very few states to reject this money. This cannot happen again for 2026. 6/6

This time around, we had a full 7+ months with the rules to understand how to run the SEBT, but our state still chose not to run it. I know, more than most, that this is a difficult program to run. But we can do hard things in OK, we've proven it time and time again. 5/X

A few thoughts to add to the disappointing #Oklahoma #SummerEBT news. 1. We don’t have to pick between cutting grocery taxes and operating Summer EBT, we can have both. 2. We led a sign on letter asking orgs and individuals to sign on and signal their support. Over 70… 1/X

@HungerFreeOK Also, given that this statement acknowledges the importance of SNAP, I look forward to dialogue with the state about policy options they can take to make SNAP more effective for Oklahoma families.

Though I haven't seen or heard a direct statement from Governor Stitt, the statement that came from his office is very troubling. Feeding kids is not and should not be political. It truly is that simple.

#JustIn: The deadline for the state to opt into a summer food program, that Oklahoma turned down this year, for 2025 is tomorrow. Governor Stitt's office just sent me this statement. It appears Oklahoma will once again not be participating. @kfor

@HungerFreeOK developed a suite of priorities for this Farm Bill based on quantitative and qualitative data, but given the lack of strong bipartisanship in Congress, many of our priorities will likely not be included. We will continue to work with members of congress and other..

Today is House Ag Cmte markup of the Farm Bill. The Farm Bill is critical, typically bipartisan, legislation that has huge implications for the food system in America. The bill includes 12 titles, including commodities, conservation, nutrition, credit, rural dev. and much more.
