CM Punk was asked about AEW airing the backstage footage from AEW All In 2023 that saw the altercation between Punk and Jack Perry:
“It’s kind of like…I have to wrestle Drew McIntyre right, and this is just this garbage person that I don’t want in my life you know, but this is the fight game, it’s the shit talk business, it’s just like fighting in the UFC, you see these guys ripping at each other, ugly press conferences, getting personal and it’s just like, I don’t necessarily enjoy that energy you know, but the payoff is I get to go in a ring and I get to blacken eyes and chip teeth and make Drew sob. So it just felt really ugly, but then I was just like ‘why’, like showing that footage isn’t gonna help them or hurt me so I was just like whatever. Being the top draw in 2 different companies is pretty wild like, thanks guys.”

@TripleHHHPaulL And this is why this company isn't going to have anymore than 800k watching their trash ass show on a weekly basis. Build up a storyline that we can get behind only to see the EVP's buddy crush the sentimental favorite. WCW 2.0 only with financial backing forever.
What better way to honor Jeff Jarrett’s friendship with Owen Hart than by bouncing him in the first round against Adam Page, who is now pretending to be a tough guy.
@DKSportsbook I just read that Raheem Mostert is going to be inactive today. I've got him in a 7 player parlay to score a td for the Sunday match-ups. Does that bet become void, will I get my money back, how does that work in the case the player is inactive?
He was hurt by Vince. Vince’s decision making and politics. Leaves.
A company starts because people are tired of the “same ol Shit”. They get punk. Life is sweet. Tells AEW he’s happy to be back and he’d never leave which I’m sure he didn’t think he would have to.
Punk sees it’s a fuckin asylum run by the patients. Calls people out on their shit. Calls them children (btw that’s their whole story line now)
They don’t like that he doesn’t wanna be a part of their fraternity. Constant shots in promos or their behind the scenes show.
Things finally come to a head when they barge into his dressing room when he told them he didn’t wanna speak.
Gets suspended. Comes back. Can’t go to their show so Tony makes a show for him where they can’t go. They complain that they’re banned from the new show even tho punk isn’t allowed to go to dynamite.
Then gets called out by another guy on AEWs biggest ppv ever. He answers the call. Gets fired and has to deal with getting dragged publicly. Even watching said children do victory laps on “his” show about him being out of work.
And then wwe makes him an offer. No longer ran by vince. New regime. Which is what he wanted in the first place. And Where he makes history just by standing at the top of the ramp in a white tee shirt.
But he’s a crybaby hypocrite. What was he supposed to do just be out of a job or go to a promotion even smaller than AEW so haters could be happy? Fuck that.
And yea Tony should’ve kept him. He also should’ve forced the Fuckin bucks to have that meeting and squash it. Instead of them bailing on punk when they scheduled a sit down right before all in. Like a fucking boss.
