To honour the 32 staff and volunteers we’ve lost this year, more than 20 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies came together with one purpose: Solidarity. #ProtectHumanity

While in Sydney, Australia, IFRC Secretary General @jagan_chapagain received the Sydney Peace Prize from the @SydPeaceFound on behalf of the entire International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement. "This recognition truly belongs to the 16+ million volunteers and staff who dedicate their lives to protecting the vulnerable and restoring dignity in the most challenging environments. In a time when peace feels distant, may this award remind us that even in the darkest moments, we can find light through compassion and solidarity." — IFRC Secretary General @jagan_chapagain.

On #internationalvolunteerday we celebrate those #volunteers in local communities across the world working tirelessly and selflessly to solve local problems. When the world, as it is at the moment, seems dark and gloomy these remain beacons of #hope for something a little better
