No #parkrun for me today (sore foot). Got the opportunity to enjoy the glorious scenery at Stansted Park rather than just the running path - but boy was it cold….

If an individual with hip pain has: A pelvic xray that is inconclusive An MRI that is unremarkable An MRA that is unremarkable & an injection that has had no significant pain relief. I'm not sure an exploratory hip scope is the answer. I may be wrong.

@AdamMeakins Absolutely agree, doesn’t change management significantly. However, it’s good to have in the notes in case there’s a change.

I really don’t understand why physios waste so much time and energy in trying to figure out which level nerve root pain is originating from when it makes fuck all difference in how we manage it! 🤔🤷‍♂️
Physio Network@PhysioNetwork

❓Where do patients with radiculopathy experience pain? 🎯Clinicians unable to determine with any accuracy above chance whether an individual pain drawing was from a person with a compromised L5 or S1 nerve root. 👉🏻Approximately 50 to 80% overlap. 🔗chiromt.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

@AdamMeakins Directly, pain becomes an injury when the sensation of ‘hurt’ alters function causing secondary stress on tissues resulting in overload or when a clinician starts to medicalise.

@DerekGriffin86 We have a relatively easy tool in the form of the @RCPhysicians diagnostic worksheet to make a diagnosis of FM. However it seems unkind for a clinician to be able to do unless they have a structure in place to start to support patients once the diagnosis is given.

The Royal College of Physicians' guidelines for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. A nice, clinician friendly guide to how to approach this in everyday clinical practice. rcpjournals.org/content/clinme…

“My 16-year-old daughter suffers from anxiety when going out on her own. “The other week my husband and I were away and she got up to parkrun, without us reminding her. “I asked her why and she said she felt like parkrun was her safe place." 💬 Clare Jones 🌳 #loveparkrun

In MSK: ✅ Pain isn't measurable ✅ We don't know what causes pain ✅ No treatments work consistently ✅ Patient improvements can't be attributed to a treatment ✅ Outcomes assessments aren't reliable ✅ Any improvement is likely from contextual effects Did I get that right?

It’s common for #axialSpA to cause pain and stiffness in your hips and sacroiliac (SI) joints, so @YogaforAS teacher, Geoff Lindsay, has designed a yoga session to gently stretch these areas. If you can’t join this session live, you can catch up afterwards on our Facebook page.
