Verse of the day: "In their hearts a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9. I have made the decision to leave KATV at the end of November. This was not a decision I took lightly or came to easily, but the time is right to take a leap of faith into something new that will better serve my growing family. The 7 years I have spent at KATV have been a dream come true. I got to live out a childhood dream at the station I grew up watching, and I got to do it alongside some incredible people. I love to point out that I was employed with Ned Perme for 2 weeks before he retired. The KATV weather team has made me into the meteorologist I am today. Barry, Melinda, and Todd were incredibly gracious to welcome me to the team 7 years ago. I will always be thankful for my time at KATV. We've been through A LOT of bad weather in my time here, none worse than this spring. Thank you for your trust. For everyone who has watched me the last 7 years, thank you. When I started this journey in December 2018, I was a year out of college and unmarried with no kids. In a lot of ways, everyone has seen me grow up. As for what's next, my social media channels WILL remain an Arkansas weather source. I am not going anywhere, I am not leaving the state, and my house is not for sale. For the time being I am taking a full time job outside of TV, but this page will continue to be an Arkansas weather source for a long time - this will include live coverage on our worst weather days. For now, I want to thank everyone for watching, listening, and interacting. This platform doesn't exist without YOU, the wonderful people I want to bring weather info to. Our sweet girl Blaire has spent the last 72 hours in the NICU on a cooling mat with a lowered body temperature and low stimulation to prevent any further damage after she was born with acidosis of the blood (we believe this may not have been for a long period of time). The most critical part now begins as they will re-warm her to 98.6° over the course of the next 24 hours. We are praying for no seizure activity, and an easy transition off of the medicine and vent by this time tomorrow. If all goes well, we will get to hold her for the first time on Wednesday! Several days of scans, tests, and monitoring are still in front of us. We sincerely appreciate every single prayer so many of you have offered to us.

11 AM UPDATE | #Erin not officially a Category 5 hurricane, but it's knocking on the door and it is now explicitly forecast to become a Category 5 soon. The storm is moving left of the forecast, implying a subtle west shift in the forecast path. This doesn't change U.S. impacts.

7AM CDT 8/15: The system off the coast of northeastern Mexico and southern Texas coastline has a medium (50%) chance of becoming a short-lived tropical depression before it moves inland later today. Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall is possible over the next couple of days, and interests there should monitor the progress of this system. An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate this morning. More: hurricanes.gov

BREAKING: And I mean WOW this is huge. The quake was prelim. an 8.0 but upgraded now to a massive 8.7 magnitude. This struck minutes ago off the east coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia. This was a pretty shallow quake with depth of 19km (only 11 miles down). Tsunami Alerts are now active for all of Hawaii and the Alaskan Islands. A quake of this extreme intensity and shallowness can pose major tsunami risks. Tsunami alerts are expanding immediately around the Pacific Rim. Tsunami waves over 3 meters (10 feet) above normal tide levels are now possible along portions of the northwestern Hawaiian Islands and coastal areas of Russia.
