@ShaunRainey I get your point. IMO the contact is illegal, enough illegal contact to impede the BYU player’s ability to complete the play, and should be called at any point in the game. The rule book will back up the official’s call and his post game grade will reflect that

@JG_JustMe I’be never been in the camp of “a foul in 1Q is same as 4Q” Game on the line, I need more contact than that to blow the whistle

Aztecs-Utah State game was atrocious as well. It’s a hard job but it’s so rough to watch. Every game it’s just drive and you will get a call late

@ShaunRainey You don’t think #4 moved forward at 34 seconds? I’m just trying to make the call relatable to our games. Any time a defender moves forward, in any scenario, creating contact, he’s no longer a legal defender and that contact is illegal

@JG_JustMe Agreed but he wasn’t shooting a three, he stepped through initiating contact then faded away. He goes up through the contact there and I prob don’t have a prob with the call

@ShaunRainey I’m not disagreeing with the premise, but if you or I were about to shoot a 3 and a defender (with his hands straight up) moves forward into our hip, creating contact & displacing us…we’d 100% want the foul lol

@JG_JustMe Eh it’s pretty weak. We need to call less fouls not more, especially in that circumstance
