With Gerrit Cole gone, Justin Verlander hurt, and Zack Greinke fading, Lance McCullers Jr finished 7th in Cy Young voting in 2021. He followed that up by tossing 6.2 shutout innings in game one of the ALDS. It looked like he would take the torch, then his forearm failed him
