I am pleased to share that I have joined the @CdnAgriFood. I look forward to supporting the important work of CAPI & the Centre for Agri-Food Benchmarking by fostering thoughtful dialogue & development of forward-thinking ag policy at a pivotal time for Canada’s agri-food sector.

How long should we wait after it has warmed up before stowing cold weather gear? Asking for a friend of course.

This is Norfolk County. At the heart of Ontario’s Garden, Norfolk County is home to one of the most diverse and productive agricultural regions in the country. From row crops to horticulture, tobacco to greenhouse production, floriculture to viticulture, livestock to forestry, the work happening here is as varied as it is vital. Yet behind every acre is a network of dedicated individuals whose collective efforts often go unseen—but are crucial. From farmers—both generational and new—to agronomists, applicators, ag retailers, product suppliers, yard workers, and truck drivers, each person plays a crucial role in keeping the system moving. Equally essential are the thousands of offshore workers who leave their home countries each year to contribute their labour and expertise to Norfolk’s agricultural bounty. Their contributions are invaluable and deserve recognition. This project captures the rhythm of Norfolk agriculture from above—moments across the 2025 growing season that reflect the scale, pace, and beauty of production in our region. It’s a visual tribute to the people and processes that keep our rural economy thriving. So don’t only thank a farmer. Support Norfolk County agriculture through: • Buying local and in-season whenever possible. • Slowing down and sharing the road with farm equipment. • Supporting local AG retailers. (Clark’s, Fs Partners, Scotland Agromart, Sylvite, Underhills) • Having meaningful conversations with offshore workers when you see them in town. • Taking time to learn about the full spectrum of crops and commodities grown right here in your community. Agriculture is more than an industry in Norfolk—it’s a way of life, deeply rooted in land, labour, and legacy. Let’s do our part to honour and support those who make it all possible. A huge shoutout to the following operations who allowed me to share a glimpse of their story in keeping the world go round. Thank you to my team at Sylvite for the pointers and encouragement. This was purely an ambitious project fueled by my passion of AG for which I have not profited from. #ontag #canadianag #norfolkcounty

Two viewpoints competing. The first wants to take it easy next year, focus on other aspects of fitness and give the endurance bits a rest. The second says now or never.

Still torn one week before the deadline. Which one shall we do? Been there, done that on the 200. 100's being saved for another day. Leaves either the 50 or 350. Hmmm ...

"Big Jim has a secret weapon; the Lairig Flyer, a rickety old bicycle. Furthermore, he has a wealth of experience - this is his 105th crossing of the Lairig Ghru. Perhaps most importantly of all, he has stashed an armful of whisky bottles along the route." youtu.be/cZk2jV5gJbM

Ride those windy days. Get comfortable in the toil. Out in the flats is best. Yeah, it's gonna suck, but the finish will be sweet. And when it happens in a race, it's not a big deal.

Didn't get in the Unbound XL. A tad disappointed, but oddly liberated. Next year's wide open. Already mentioned that I want to try bikepacking. It should create opportunities for challenges of increasing duration and distance.
