Western Michigan basketball is closing in on its next head coach, and Kahil Fennell, the head coach at University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, has emerged as the front runner, sources are telling me. The deal isn't finalized, but it's quickly trending in that direction.

Northern Illinois is expected to hire Northern Michigan head coach Matt Majkrzak, source told @TheFieldOf68. Majkrzak, a former manager for Brian Wardle at Green Bay, led NMU to four straight conference titles and four straight NCAA tournaments, one of only three D-2 programs to do so. His team led the country in rebounding margin, offensive efficiency, and fewest turnovers per game.
