HOLY SMOKES: Anyone else traveling today? It’s a nightmare. I’ve never seen an airport so crowded. This is Fort Lauderdale International…it is like this at every gate in at least the two terminals I have been in today. Original American Airlines flight was to leave for Dallas at 6:30am. We boarded, got on the runway only to come back due to mechanical issues. Needless to say that flight was cancelled and I’m finally boarding a new one this evening. Good luck to everyone traveling the next few weeks with the Spring Break crowds Let me know what you’re seeing out there…

The local hospital you choose does matter. This is a Hiroshima move from the grim reaper: a rupturing aortic aneurysm that without prompt surgical intervention is nearly 100% fatal. You can hear me being sarcastic scrolling through it and thankfully this was caught as soon as the patient was scanned. By the time we received a call from the radiologist 1hr 30min after the scan, the patient was already in the OR at a different hospital that had vascular surgery. This hospital and radiology group’s obsession with minimizing costs and running skeleton crews nearly cost this patient their life. Furthermore, their hiring of inadequately trained medical “providers” that over-order inappropriate imaging is often the norm and floods the techs and radiologists, creating unnecessary delays and costs. I see this more often than not…across state lines and across for profit and non for profit systems. First world healthcare my 🍑
