My son, Danny had a great time at the Zoo on Friday with his fellow classmates at his Special Needs developmental school. He got to see so many animals!🐯🐵🦒🦓🐘And he had a great time after school with his Aunt having some awesome barbecue at Smokehouse Barbecue. He got lots of new Birthday presents from his Aunt🎁 And yes, he wore his Birthday hat at the Zoo 🥳😂😂😂😂

It's Memorial Day weekend. You can talk shit all year long but today, I am talking about some of the best people I have ever known who gave it all for this country. I met "Ish" while we were waiting for our base housing in Hawaii. He and his wife sat at the table next to us at dinner one night at the hotel we were both calling home-temporarily. It was an immediate friendship. You know how you can just tell you've met life long friends? That was Ish and his wife, Angela. They were on the same trajectory we were. Both couples headed to Kaneohe, both guys were pilots, all of us were southerners, and all of us about to become parents for the first time. It was nothing but fun and memories from that day forward-until the day Ish was killed in a training mission in Meridan, Mississippi. It was one of few moments I questioned my faith. This man, this father, this husband had survived hundreds of sorties in Desert Storm, crazy nights driving when he shouldn't have, bootlegging liquor in bread loaves in Saudi, and so many things-just to be killed by a faulty ejection seat. Don't let this weekend go by without telling people about the military friends you loved and respected who really did love this country enough to lose their lives while serving it.
