Maybe, just maybe, being fit and athletic is the smallest factor for success in football. Messi is 5’7” tall. Mbappe is 5’10”. Both these guys weigh under 170#. What American sport are they becoming superstars in?
Football is about stamina, intelligence and most importantly first touch control. In the NFL a running back who sees a hole and runs is an easy metric. A corner back with speed that defends and deflects 20 passes a year is an all pro. Brady and Manning were statues in the pocket and threw a ball. No one ever said their athletic ability was top notch.
You don’t need to be big or have those 1% genetics to succeed in football. You need class and to become a master in so many aspects of the game to make a difference on the pitch.
