MAGA destroying their favorite restaurant chain to own woke, lib globalists who have never eaten there is a pretty good metaphor for a lot of things.

GenAI and the Productivity Paradox Many are wondering why GenAI has not been particularly evident in the productivity statistics of the broader economy, despite widespread adoption. This is reminiscent of the PC era, when Solow in 1987 famously stated: “You can see the computer age everywhere except in the productivity statistics.” As shown in the below chart, previous technological breakthroughs showed up in productivity statistics with multi-year lags. Notably, the lags shrunk over time. It took about 15 years for PCs to be reflected in productivity data, as it took time for the broader economy to adapt as organisations redesigned and optimised processes. We should expect a time lag too with GenAI, though likely much shorter. (We also acknowledge there are some flaws in productivity measurements that may further obscure these impacts.) AI will disrupt the economy and there will be big winners and losers. We are already seeing the market factor in this reality. At AlphaTarget, we are focusing on businesses which are beneficiaries of this revolution. Source: How AI can boost productivity and jump start growth, J.P. Morgan Private Bank

Monetary policy should remain tight until the 11% additional inflation we've had since January 2020 above the 2% trendline is erased. There's no point in having an inflation target if you're not going to adhere to it. The Fed should not be cutting rates at all this year.

Jobs data is fake so we will stop reporting it but CPI data is accurate and we should cut 50 basis points in September.

Who pays for tariffs? Think again. Studies consistently found that 80%+ of the China tariff costs during Trump 1.0 were borne by U.S. entities (importers and consumers combined), with Chinese exporters absorbing < 20% through reduced prices. These findings are supported by the following credible studies: - Atlanta Federal Reserve (2023), "Tariffs and Consumer Prices." - Tax Foundation (2020), "The Economic Impact of Trump’s Tariffs," Tax Foundation. - National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER): Fajgelbaum et al. A couple of years ago, I went into a well-known used bookshop in Manhattan and spotted a volume I knew to be particularly rare while browsing that was priced at $9. I bought it, wrapped the jacket in mylar, and flipped it for $400 online. Not an ounce of guilt. 😌

I’m realizing these AI’s don’t just lie. They build these rich internal delusions, like fake bases of made up data that they run real system on top of, like calculations/timelines/rules, and because it all fits together they treat it like the truth. Which is so… human.

.@RepThomasMassie & I are introducing the Epstein Files Transparency Act –– a bipartisan bill to require the Attorney General to release the files within 30 days. Rep. Massie is working on the rule to ensure there is a vote. The public deserves to know where every member stands.

We all deserve to know what’s in the Epstein files, who’s implicated, and how deep this corruption goes. Americans were promised justice and transparency. We’re introducing a discharge petition to force a vote in the US House of Representatives on releasing the COMPLETE files.
