@spliced_lambda best version to date, i’d just make black fat since they couldn’t fit in the vents

Do not go straight home. Stop by the store and buy something. That recept is your alibi.

white woman tears = 50 years😭.

@arven_kisser @MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm i’m not gonna argue about this, mainly because i googled it and it said both views are right. Being politically uninvolved out of indifference is a sign of privilege. Being politically uninvolved out of exhaustion, exclusion, or despair is a sign of marginalization.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Then unfortunately it looks like we will never agree on anything. It's not just that I don't like it. I think it presents an overly-simplistic and ignorant worldview that actually causes more harm than good to people trying to educate themselves on intersectionality.
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm you’re proving my point. having to stay informed so they don’t die means what? that they are conforming, to gain the power they need to succeed in that context. not conforming puts you at risk and makes you more marginalized.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm See, this is where things start to get messy. Privilege isn't purely political power. And, like I said, politics play a huge role in many underprivileged people's lives, so they're forced to stay informed on that so they don't die. Not having to worry about that IS privileged.
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm the same thing that happens to any black person in the 1800s. btw you ever heard of house slave vs field slave? also this isnt a one time thing, even in modern day, black people who can pass for white have more privilege due to being able to conform. other categories are the same
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Okay, fair point. But what if somebody had found out that they were both actually escaping slavery? What would've happened to her?
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm i like the chart. you don’t have to like the chart. i find it useful in explaining privilege. the social sciences behind it make sense to me.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Yes, you're right! But privilege isn't as simple as this chart makes it out to be, and conditional privilege isn't really privilege at all. People's identities can be messy, so naturally the systems set up around identity will be as well.
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm this will always be a conversation, because it’s relevant and requires you to think outside of yourself and acknowledge others. we can’t spend our whole life thinking there’s no one less fortunate than us. that’s as bad as reactionary tactics like “all lives matter”.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Can we please stop arguing about "who's more oppressed" or whatever and focus on dismantling the systems of oppression? Squabbling over semantics accomplishes nothing.
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm i never said there weren’t risks. Take race for an example. Ellen and William Craft were a black enslaved couple. Ellen (lightskin) disguised as a disabled white male planter and William as her enslaved valet. They successfully reached freedom in Philly because she “conformed”.

English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm You think that being forced to conform to a society that hates you doesn't have its own set of risks and trauma? I'm assuming you're neurotypical? Masking is fucking EXHUASTING. At some point, you no longer have enough energy to keep up the act, and there goes your "privilege".
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm in America, you dont have any power politically unless you belong to the main two parties. Good luck trying to become president if you aren’t red or blue. thus zero political power allocated to non conformers.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm That's the thing though: people uninterested in politics CAN have power and make decisions. They just don't WANT to. And chances are, since politics can affect marginalized people's lives in very drastic ways, those kinds of people are in a position where they don't HAVE to.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Also what the actual fuck is infinifat... saying this as someone with a bmi in the 40s btw 😭
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm anyone can be privileged depending on what category we’re judging their privilege in. that’s the whole point of the chart. that privilege/power comes in different forms.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Think of it this way: would you say a gay man in a lavender marriage is privileged? What about an albinistic poc having to live in a sundown town? See how ridiculous that sounds?
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm the hierarchy is important, it reveals how overlapping identities compound to create unique structural barriers. example, the term poc is kinda bad for black people. the black experience is not the poc experience even if we are all minorities. it’s vastly different.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Creating hierarchies of marginalization is inherently exclusionary and invalidating, and it ironically completely misses the point of what intersectionality is. It's really not that simple, especially with how intertwined many kinds of bigotry are.
English

@MemeLorbius @sunflowerfemmm you have more privilege/power if you can pass as one of the less marginalized communities. some people can’t hide it at all, they are unable to conform to societal pressures, therefore unable to receive the privilege/power that comes from conforming.
English

@JN3XUSALT @sunflowerfemmm Look at the distinctions they make in the "erased" sections. MASKING neurodivergent. white-PRESENTING. Can PASS as cishet. INVISIBLE disability. All of these "privileges" are conditional at best, and people will still face the struggles that come with their identites regardless.
English

@Ego_Sore_high @FoghornAsshorn @GOP__Ls @NoAppleIndian heaven is real. Being a christian doesn’t mean you won’t sin, it means you’re aware of and averse to your sin. You’re supposed to grow as a person as you grow in your faith. if you come to Jesus as a murderer, at the end of the day you won’t stay a murderer because He helps you.
English

@JN3XUSALT @FoghornAsshorn @GOP__Ls @NoAppleIndian They're able to do it bc they break the law & their consequences is paying a shit load of money, instead of prison time. Meanwhile, the religions they use to enslave the publics minds are led to believe, there's a heaven waiting for them. But every individual alive sins daily.
