Today's Mansfield earthquake in Victoria as recorded on the seismograph in Government House, Adelaide. I clearly felt the vibrations at my desk in the Geological Survey of South Australia in Adelaide CBD.
Reduction in human-related seismic vibration (industry, planes, trains, automobiles,...) during the South Australian lockdown evident at AuScope seismic station GHSS located in Government House, Adelaide. Scale is nanometers (nm). Data processed & plotted using SeismoRMS.
The vibrations from the M8.2 Alaska earthquake recorded at AuScope seismic station KELC on Kangaroo Island are gargantuan in comparison, even at a remove of 12,000+ km. 1 human hair = 75,000 nanometers (or so I'm told...).
Just finished the first service run of the GSSA's AusArray SA seismic network with @kate_selway and Bruce and Ann Goleby. Let's see what the data reveal... @DEM_sagov@AuScope@GeoscienceAus
The Geological Survey of South Australia deployed the AusArray SA broadband seismic array over two weeks in October 2020. Two vehicles, with a cumulative 10,000+ km covered. Phew! Thanks to @AuScope and @GeoscienceAus for the instruments @DEM_sagov
@ArcheanGeo@kate_selway It was a follow-up study...

After many failed searches we were beginning to think this #orbicular#granite was the stuff of legends. But @JP0Donnell found it! Such a gorgeous and super-rare rock in a random little outcrop. Does anyone know much about how these form?
@JP0Donnell Hi I saw your photo of your Emerald guitar in the snow (with the seal in the background). I am writing a book about Emerald and was wondering if I provide you photo credit, may I include it in the book? (To show it is impervious to humidity or weather restrictions).
