Hell is not just physical suffering — it is eternal separation from God. If God is the source of all love, peace, joy, and light, then hell is the complete absence of all of it. Jesus described hell in deeply unsettling terms. In Mark 9:43, He said it is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, “where the fire never goes out.” In other places, He called it outer darkness — a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 8:12). Think about that contrast: fire yet darkness, pain with no escape, existence without hope. This isn’t just punishment. It is eternal regret — remembering every chance you had to turn to God, every moment you ignored Him, every time you said, “I’ll deal with it later,” only to realize there is no “later.” The most sobering truth most people don’t talk about is this: hell is not temporary.
