@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad Because I already know the answer. You only pick and choose which parts of the Bible you follow to fit your little man-made religion...which is NOT Christianity!
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad Yes, the Bible mentions overseers/bishops but not in the way the Catholic church sees it.
In the New Testament, “bishops” and “elders” are local shepherds (Acts 20:17,28; Titus 1:5-7). They appear always in plural in each “ekklesia”, not one superior bishop over many churches.
English

@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad Peter WAS the first pope...but that is irrelevant. The Church as shown in the Bible had bishops. Do you submit to the authority of your bishop?
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad The “ekklesia” afterwards was guided by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem, not Rome. (Acts 15:2,6; 22-29; 16:4)
Christ remained the head (Ephesians 5:3) and Peter was not the first Pope. (1 Peter 5:1-3; Acts 15; Galatians 2:11; Revelation 21:14)
English

@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad Jesus DID found a formal institution with governing authority. Is is clearly shown in the Bible.
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad Incorrect
Jesus did not founded a formal institution with governing authority like your tradition teaches. It progressed over time. Post-ressurection. Me actually citing the Bible will always be more accurate than “no, no, I’m Mr. James P. Maver and it is because I say so”.
English

@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad Yes, the Greek work ecclesia means "church." And THAT is what Jesus founded, not a movement, not some me and my Bible BS, but a Church. A church with organization, leadership and Authority given to the men governing it.
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad If you mean an institutional church, no. If you mean church, as in the original greek word “ecclesia” that means simply a group of people called out for a particular purpose, yes. And that movement is called Christianity.
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad Your only basis for “Jesus founded the Catholic church” is based off a complete misinterpretation of the text.
Even Peter himself said who the rock was: “To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious” - 2 Peter 2:4
English

@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad Typical Prot. nonsense deflection. The topic is, whether Jesus founded a Church or not. Go have your secondary unrelated debate with someone else!
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad The rock is Christ himself.
1 Corinthians 3:11: “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 2:20: “and you have been built up on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, while Christ Jesus himself is the foundation cornerstone”
English

@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad Peter...and EVERY Christian knew that before your ridiculous modern man-made religion was invented to tear down Christ's Church!
English

@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad "And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad If you know the Bible so much maybe you should send the verse where it says that Jesus founded the catholic church
English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad Jesus Christ founded Christianity. The Catholic Church was "founded" progressively between years and years of councils.
English

@DoryCan2 @sola_chad I know my history. Would you like a lesson?
English

@dio6o_ @catholicchristo @sola_chad What did you drop out of kindergarten? The Catholic Church was founded in 33AD by Jesus Christ. Go educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself on the internets!

English

@JPMAVER @catholicchristo @sola_chad There is no such thing as Catholic Church before the second century AC.
English

@LibertyCappy If your mom is Dutch AND your dad is Dutch, that makes you double Dutch!
English

@catholicchristo @sola_chad Yeah right….The septuagint was around between the 3rd and first centuries a.c and the most of the New Testament was already compiled by 100 d.c.
English

@sola_chad .
Mary would be very very sad if she knew that there are a bunch of people practicing idolatry by trying to pray to her 🧏🏻♂️
.
English

@sola_chad It’s not but Catholics don’t own a a Bible much less read it.
English

@texaspamy @sola_chad Your false religion bears NO resemblance to true Christianity.
English

@sola_chad This claim is categorically false. Mary is not an intercessor. Only Satan would come up with this kind of garbage. Catholicism is the devils counterfeit to true Christianity.
