"I grew up in a sports household. Everything was a competition, and if you weren’t trying to win, then you might as well not try at all. Some of my biggest heroes were athletes with a certain swagger and confidence in themselves and their abilities. The confidence, not arrogance, that they have what it takes to defeat their opponent. It had nothing to do with who was standing across from them, but everything to do with their own capabilities. Perhaps this is what drew me to politics as well. One-on-one races where the battle of ideas takes place," JP Plott writes. Read full piece: yellowhammernews.com/justin-jp-plot… #Alabama #ALPolitics #Runoff #Elections

name a thing the liberal mind cannot comprehend

BREAKING: A three-judge federal panel is temporarily blocking Alabama from using a newly proposed congressional map that Republicans hope would improve their chances in a key U.S. House race. The court ordered the state to keep using the court-approved districts from the 2024 elections while the long-running redistricting case continues.

In 1888, General Longstreet returned to Gettysburg. A one-legged Yank hobbled up on crutches, grasped his hand, and said, "General, I fought against you at Round Top. I lost a wing there, but I am proud to meet you here." Longstreet beamed and grasped the veterans hand. "Yes, those were hot times then, but I’m all right now." Over 30,000 Union and Confederate veterans gathered to promote national unity and reconciliation. Those who bled there knew the war was over and we were all countrymen again. We could learn something from them.

"Does anyone else have redistricting fatigue? It seems our Republican legislators share this sentiment. What we are currently witnessing is yet another chapter in the ongoing book of Republican inaction when it comes to Alabama politics. I once thought it was a matter of incompetence, then perhaps a lack of urgency. However, the current redistricting issues have led me to a more cynical perspective: perhaps many of the Republicans in Montgomery are not really who we think they are. The United States Supreme Court gave the Alabama Legislature an opportunity of a lifetime when they lifted the injunction that has forced Alabama to draw its maps based on race for years now," JP Plott writes.
