In the context of the escalation of the war in Ukraine following the invasion by the Russian Federation, @UNESCO condemns the reported strike on 15 June that hit the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, within the World Heritage property “Kyiv: Saint-Sophia Cathedral and Related Monastic Buildings, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”, one of Ukraine’s most significant spiritual and cultural landmarks. The strike reportedly caused significant damage to the exterior and interior of the Dormition Cathedral. Adjacent historic structures, including elements of the Lavra’s fortification complex and Ivan Kushnik Tower, were also reportedly impacted. #UNESCO condemns attacks against cultural property, educational institutions, students, education personnel and media professionals protected under international law. Damage to such institutions deprives communities of access to culture, education, and shared spaces that are essential for recovery and social cohesion. Yet another shameful decision by the Trump administration. Waiver for Russian oil has been extended for another month. It’s difficult to interpret this as anything but another favor to Moscow.

Theoretically, US sanctions on Russian oil are back in force.

5/ The war in Iran must end as soon as possible. Freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz must be restored. Any easing of energy sanctions on Russia should be reversed.

4/ So without materially increasing supply, Russia is simply benefiting from higher oil prices. Improvement in budget revenues should be visible in March–April.

1/ Russia is a key beneficiary of the war in Iran and the surge in oil prices. Oil and petroleum product export revenues jumped to $19.5 bn in March — according to IEA. This is +95% vs. record-low February revenues ($9.8 bn), and +43% vs. the 2025 average.

5/ Війну в Ірані слід якнайшвидше закінчувати. Вільне судноплавство Ормузькою протокою має бути відновлене якнайшвидше. А будь-які послаблення енергетичних санкцій проти РФ мають бути скасовані.

4/ Тобто ніяк принципово не змінюючи пропозицію нафти на ринку, Росія насолоджується високими цінами на нафту. Покращення ситуації з бюджетом варто очікувати в квітні та березні.

1/ Росія - ключовий бенефіціар війни в Ірані та злетівших за хмари цін на нафту. Експортна виручка від нафти та нафтопродуктів у березні злетіла до $19,5 млрд — за даними IEA. Це +95% до рекорднонизьких доходів у лютому ($9,8 млрд), і +43% ніж в середньому у 2025 році.
