Using your name to get out of a simple traffic ticket is a fascinating choice for someone running for reelection to make. I thought for sheriff Lombardo was all about law & order? So much for respecting police.

According to Academy rules, these BEHEMOTH composers would have to compete as a recognized group in order to be eligible for Best Original Score. Only up to three composers can receive the nomination unless the composers are a “recognized band or group.”

Brilliant imagery and craftwork make for a truly enthralling adventure, even if the IMAX cameras struggled to stay in focus for a shocking amount of the film. It’s messy and elusive, but if you can stay the course, THE ODYSSEY is well worth the journey.

It’s Damon’s best performance in ages, and perhaps Holland best in his career. They command a magnificent ensemble, with Pattinson embracing every bit of villainy. The score, the production design, the costumes - not one bit out of place.

THE ODYSSEY traverses across bumpy waters in its first half, but finds its footing and sticks the landing with unexpectedly poignant themes. All the pieces click into place, making me excited to see it again. It’s some of Nolan’s strongest action, if not his strongest writing.

Curious to see if this ends up disqualifying the score as a whole.

Yes. I read it as a child. Because it’s a children’s book. We keep lowering standards for children’s media and then wonder why kids can’t read or grasp complex concepts. Running into words you don’t know is part of the learning experience. Not an insurmountable obstacle.

Bad wigs, empty green-screened sets, and nothing new to add to the original movie that’s only ten years old. A sad annual reminder of Disney chasing dollars instead of creativity.

MOANA is hardly the worst of Disney’s live action remakes, but that’s one of the lowest possible bars to clear. It’s a cheap imitation, devoid of the heart of the original. Frustrating, dull, and a step down in every sense. Imagine if they used this money for something new.
