We’re coming up on a quarter of the season in the books and Aaron Ashby is MLB’s wins leader. Here’s more on the Brewers’ “vulture,” the origin of that term and the relievers in history who have swooped in for wins — and what Ashby thinks of all of this. @AdobeOrg&affiliateId=mlbapp-ios_webview_news-index&rsid=mlbios.at.bat.new.implementation" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">mlb.com/news/aaron-ash…

@CynicalPublius A ticket back home. Screw the EU. It's no longer worth the risk to holiday there.

Is it possible to arrive in Europe as a tourist and acquire something in Europe that can reliably be used for self defense purposes, without getting arrested?

A knifeman stabbed a woman to death in front of terrified bystanders in Barcelona in what authorities believe was a random street killing. A woman has been killed in a shocking knife attack in the streets of Barcelona in full view of horrified bystanders. The stabbing happened at around 11am in Esplugues de Llobregat, just a short distance from the Camp Nou stadium. Witnesses watched as the attacker struck in broad daylight. The victim, described locally as a young woman, suffered multiple stab wounds to the throat, chest and stomach. She died at the scene. A 50-year-old man who tried to intervene was also injured, sustaining wounds to his arm. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police say they are still working to determine whether the attacker knew the victim. So far, there is no evidence of any relationship between them. Investigators are focusing on the possibility that this was a random attack. The suspect — described as wearing jeans, a hoodie and carrying a large black rucksack was arrested just hours later in the nearby Les Corts area. Images of the alleged attacker holding the weapon have since circulated, adding to the shock surrounding the incident. As the investigation continues, one thing is already clear: A normal morning turned into a scene of terror and a life has been taken in the most brutal way.

@cjsmall @iowahawkblog Seems like every small town in WI has a butcher who grinds and smokes his own sausage. Miesfeld's, Glenn's & Karl's are fantastic. We just discovered Cedar Road Meats.

@iowahawkblog Except for a few good buildings by Wright and Calatrava, help me understand just what does Wisconsin have going for it? I've been to the Dells and really, they aren't all that great. What's left?

Most national grades on the #Packers draft are like: "Brandon Cisse was a great value at a position of need, McClennin fills a hole, DDS was a steal at a position of need, Jager is a nice late round pickup, the Trey Smack pick was a really good idea, I give them a C."

Remember when Gordon Brown gifted Obama an ornamental pen holder carved from the timbers of Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet, sister ship of the vessel the Resolute Desk was made from, and Obama gave Brown a DVD box set of American movies region-locked to U.S. DVD players?

Absolutely, truly impeccable. Kudos to the official who came up with this idea, and found it. I honestly doubt that a gift given by one head of state has ever so genuinely delighted another. It won't look out of place on the mantelpiece of the Oval Office.

We're not saying that Charlottesville itself is a "hoax." We are saying the SPLC allegedly *HELPED* to engineer the conditions for it happening, and then materially aided-and-abetted a Unite the Right organizer and thereby promoted a clash between protesters and counter-protesters. Then the SPLC fundraised off it, successfully, and the Democrats weaponized it to push a bogus narrative in the 2020 election. So the SPLC benefited financially and the Democrats benefited politically. That is why the Biden administration shut down an investigation into the SPLC after banks flagged its suspect activities. I don't know why you leftists continue to pretend that we're all stupid. It's a tired act. When you flail with these vapid counter-arguments, it just makes you look like a huckster, in addition to a race grifter.

I led the nonprofit that successfully sued the neo-Nazis responsible for the Charlottesville violence. A jury found them liable for a conspiracy to commit violence, a verdict that courts have upheld. It was not a hoax. This is abhorrent, even if it’s not surprising.

⚡ The woman in that photo is being used as a political prop by the NYT and she probably doesn't even know it. The framing wants you to feel outrage at the cruelty of the cuts. But the actual data point buried in the story is devastating to the narrative it's trying to build. 272k for a senior VP at a USAID-funded nonprofit is not a real salary. It's a subsidy. That job existed inside a closed loop: taxpayer money flows to USAID, USAID funds NGOs, NGOs hire professionals at inflated rates, those professionals build lives around compensation that was never stress-tested against the open market. The entire salary was a function of proximity to the spigot. Not output. Not value creation. Not demand for her specific skills. The $19/hour number isn't the system being cruel. It's the system being honest for the first time. The market is saying: without the government funding stream, your skills at 57 command 39k. That's the real price. The 272k was the fiction. And here's what nobody in that thread will say: there are tens of thousands of people in the DC metro area alone sitting in exactly this position right now. Government-adjacent professionals whose entire compensation structure was built on a funding model that is being unwound. Not by AI, not by automation, but by simple political reallocation. And the market is going to reprice every single one of them. The deeper pattern is that an entire class of professional jobs in America were never real market jobs. They were artifacts of institutional spending that created its own employment ecosystem. Government, corporate middle management, DEI departments, compliance layers, consulting firms that exist to service other consulting firms. The whole structure was a series of jobs that existed because the money existed, not because the work needed doing at that price. That structure is now being compressed from multiple directions simultaneously. AI from one side. Spending cuts from another. Corporate efficiency mandates from a third. And the professional class that built its identity, its mortgages, its kids' tuitions, its retirement plans around those salaries is about to discover what the open market actually thinks they're worth. That's the repricing. This woman is just the first photo to go viral.

"Sheryl Cowan, 57, was making $272,000 a year as a senior VP at a U.S.A.I.D.-funded nonprofit when she was let go at the end of March 2025. Last month she had an online interview for a $19-an-hour job managing a Penzeys Spices store in Falls Church, Va." nytimes.com/2026/04/21/us/…

BREAKING: A Fairfax County Judge is sending 19-year-old illegal alien Israel Flores Ortiz to jail for only 135 days for sexually assaulting ten girls in a high school. His defense attorney at the sentencing hearing today ridiculously tried to justify it by invoking the false allegations that have been made against President Trump. He also said that his brain "was not fully developed enough" to know that you shouldn't sexually assault people.
