@comicaccuracy even so thanos wasnt physically present all the time but his influence was still FELT by loki, ronan, etc acting as an extension of his will! Even the stones being foreshadowed in avengers movies or thor realizing there is someone making pawns out of them all really helps

So many of you hear set up and think screentime
Loki in Avengers and Ronin in Guardians of the Galaxy have literally all been extensions of Thanos, and as the main villains of those movies are the films part of that set up because without him those events would be different💀

Stormbreaker was useless against a past thanos with no stones to the point where Mjolnir ( the weaker weapon ) was more effective and it was a plot device in TLAT and made a joke with the "sentient ex" bit
