Palace's win an inevitable aberration, then. Can't be denied that Southampton-Leeds United would have been quite an event with so much meaning to it
Instead the final again between two of football's modern powers, one that was recently punished for breaching Premier League rules, the other still the subject of an investigation that now stretches back over seven years - the club insist on their innocence.

One of football’s original rivalries. It's beautiful. Totally organic, born out of nothing other than venom and pride. King's Road debonair style Vs Northern grit, 'flash cockneys' Vs 'the north.' Two historic teams in the late 60s and early 70s culminating in one of the most iconic cup finals of all time. The two clubs despise each other - any Chelsea fan that doesn’t have Leeds top or almost top of their hate list doesn’t have a clue what we are about...

Side note question: I’ve always known Leeds Chelsea is tasty and they don’t like each other but I actually dno why? Is it purely stemmed from hooliganism?

@jckmlt @Zonal_Marking A pisspot win against a side who got to 2 finals in 3 seasons? Stop talking shite

@JTmcfc3 @Zonal_Marking Stones being bizarrely out of position is a big reason why it was a struggle.
Should have been a pisspot win.

It actually didn’t work particularly well - he showed some lovely touches in deeper positions but kept miscontrolling the ball and (understandably) didn’t really know how to receive forward passes when unmarked, and lots of passing moves broke down as a result.

John Stones on his role vs Inter: “I played No.8, I’d not played it before. Don't think I'll ever get over this.

@Zonal_Marking Each to their own but I thought he was our man of the match and without him we would have got beat

@JTmcfc3 Honestly, watch it back and you’ll see him getting the ball in great positions but unsure how to use it. That’s fine, after all it was a centre-back playing at No8 - but that is exactly what it looked like.

@jckmlt @Zonal_Marking What has that got to do with anything stones wasnt playing on his own was he
