🍎 Protest Rocks NY Democratic Committee Annual Picnic Some 35 constituents, Palestinian rights advocates with Columbia County for Palestine (CC4P), disrupted Rep. Josh Riley’s speech at the Columbia County Democratic Committee (CCDC)’s annual picnic. They confronted him over his AIPAC-funded Israel trip and refusal to back the Block the Bombs Act, unfurling banners reading “Stop Starving Gaza,” “Stop Arming Israel,” and “Killing Babies Is Not Self-Defense.” After Riley’s speech was repeatedly interrupted, CCDC Chair Sam Hodge abruptly ended the event, canceling the closing address of State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. DiNapoli—criticized for investing $352 million of NY pension funds in Israel Bonds—tried to make a hasty exit, but protesters followed him to his SUV and along the quarter-mile driveway, chanting against his complicity in genocide. NIAC’s Seattle chapter has organized an official letter alongside @IndivisibleTeam, @PeaceAction , @MPower_Change, @jvplive, @MuslimAdvocates, the family of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, and more, a coalition of 20 organizations condemning Washington Senator @MariaCantwell for voting against the most recent effort to block weapons to Israel and demanding she join the majority of Senate Democrats in opposing further arms sales for Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza.
In our letter to the Senator, our groups express deep concern over their recent votes approving specific weapons transfers to Israel in violation of U.S. and international humanitarian law call on them to support legislation to condition U.S. military aid to Israel.
