Cirsova: Winning Secrets on Kickstarter Now!
The American government actually developed mindblowingly fast rail transport in the 60s and 70s. The prototypes are all sitting in a parking lot as museum pieces because this guy is retardedly wrong about Americans not wanting to drive everywhere.

Hot take: Only about 15% of Americans actually want to drive everywhere. The other 85% are just forced to because our cities are non-stop sprawl, highways and parking lots. That 15% should have that right. And the 85% should have more transportation options. That's not communism. That's common sense.

@faklornamoa @cirsova But where did they run, through the 30s and 60s the PRR alone was running thousands of millions of passenger miles, I find it hard to believe that busses could offer better speed and comfort for intercity travel than a class I could at the time

@CompletedStreet 100% of the people in this country want the freedom to go wherever they want, whenever they want, without interuption or interference.

@hugelycaffeine @CompletedStreet Having one car for a family to use for local errands when need be and needing a car per person because theres no other way out of the house are two very different things

@AviationJeremy @cirsova And for errands and the like its fine to keep the car, but when I get stuck on the highway because everyone is going to the same place at the same time, mabey that schedueled option is better as it can carry those people without clogging up

@cirsova It’s easier to do errands, have my shit with me, and go where I please on a whim with my personal vehicle, than with a train. A car runs on my schedule, rather than me running on a train’s schedule.

@P_vonOberstein @Book_1312 @cirsova That is litterally what cars did to our entire country, every city was walkable and people didnt care having to walk a bit but now we have to pander to the car and people who dont want to walk more than 10 ft out to said car

@Book_1312 @cirsova (See how the communist wishes to destroy what we have and replace it with a product that people don’t actually want, but plays into the romanticized nonsense of said communists)

@S_527Scire @sarah1312uwu @Scan_101 Given the lack of air resistance you might not even need constant propulsion, a mile long propulsion rail weather its magnetic or mechanical could give you the energy needed to coast however far you need, then the track is just there to allow high speeds without entering orbit

@sarah1312uwu @J_Apollo42 @Scan_101 rolled coaster wheel+ "drive wheel" on a middle track built with something that would increase drag? or just load them up with enough tons that the weight itself shall make them adhere

@sarah1312uwu @Scan_101 Rollercoaster tracks would probably work with external propulsion, either a mag rail or take a chip off of this thing

@SeanMcElligot10 @ThunderWolf08 Which I find funny since when he was born the PRR was doing better HS rail with *steam trains*, Idk why boomers "good ole days" have our rich and immense railroad history completely erased

Why do people have a hard time grasping that some people don't want to drive and that planes are incredibly inefficient for shorter distance corridors

@fran_geleno @ThunderWolf08 When accounting for upfront cost you might be right but if were just talking about running cost a train uses fractions the energy a plane uses to fly and can run off of electricity which you can plug into with your zero emmison plant of choice, in the long run trains are better

@ThunderWolf08 Generally agree with you but "incredibly inefficient" is overselling it. They are somewhat inefficient. And maybe more efficient than purchasing a 300-mile-long uninterrupted corridor and filling it with cement and steel.
