Just for context ... the referee is Roger Ayers, who has worked multiple Final Fours. Known for his toughness and also sense of humor. This struck me as Hurley messing with a buddy more than intimidating a ref. This is after Mullins' shot, so Hurley was obviously not mad at the refs.

Let alone in March. He made physical contact with an official. To the face. End of story. The game was not over. There was 0.4 on the clock. If we treat that how it should’ve been treated, it’s free throws and ball for Duke while Hurley watches from the locker room. Lastly, before your retarded ass even begins to think I wanted Duke to win that game, please understand that I’m a Kentucky fan.
