Is it a crazy conspiracy to believe that @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN views himself as Fragile (character) and it’s his subconscious (game dev talking) when Fragile is talking about all the years Sam lost with Lou? “Stole all those precious years” Sounds like a dad speaking to his kids.

I work in the AAA game development space that are making the games you are talking about. I’m a game designer. Tons of information I can run by you. It’s a rabbit hole and costly (game development) depending on how far you want to push it. But it’s folks out here looking!

@WillFaucherVFX I often think of this. Do you have any recommends for devs/creatos who do have things in order? Could save a bunch of us some good time lol

When you buy a tool/asset and the materials/blueprint node graphs are complete mess, it's so infuriating. I don't know if some developers/sellers on FAB/UE Marketplace do it intentionally to obfuscate their process or what, but damn. Clean up your mess. When I sell something, I always ensure that everything is clean, tidy, easy to read, easy to understand, and navigate in the event you need to make changes to it in production.

@pcgamer We ran this by Todd and he said his only visionary power is seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26. He appreciates all the passionate feedback on Starfield and we’ll have more to share next week.

I get not everyone cares about equipment and dynasty immersion, to each their own, that’s totally cool 👌🏻 But for those of us that do, I thought about seeing your top player warming up before kick off. No pads on, just throwing next to coach. These are all small ideas we want to share with the community. I’m not in to gain followers or for clout, I do it because for the most part it’s well reciprocated by the community. I genuinely want to leave ideas on the table that could POSSIBLY* be implemented by EA down the road. If you made it this far I’m sorry 😂 I’m only a part of this because I want the game be as fun as possible for all of us die-hard CFB fans. Cheers 🍻 #EACFB27

@KahliefAdams If we are going off popular terms, it should dead ass go.. AAA - AAA Indie - Yo lets max the CCs and ball Independent - we are bit more legit, got some $ from a publisher. It’s folks screaming at Kojima for saying he went independent lol

I’m starting to think that when people hear the term “independent studio” they think everyone is getting together, maxing out their credit cards then saying “let’s make a video game”. This isn’t some grand conspiracy…🤣

It's hard to talk about game development with people on this site when 90% of the comments are "Just turn this switch", 9% are bad actors making bad faith arguments for clicks, and the other 1% are the actual people who know what they're talking about or want to learn.

@OluwaHefner Oh you are 100% right. I really think you may start seeing big AAA studios form smaller studios inside of the big studio making new “franchises” or IPs. Similar to how Activision is doing right now. Im just hoping these studios do it sooner rather than later.

@J_RedG Thank you for taking the time to explain your views, I agree and understand most of them but the truth still is remains that there needs to be a wake up call because this is not sustainable m

The lack of videogame investment has vanished, but also the amount of investment needed has exploded. GTA3 cost like $5 Million. Today anything under $100m is considered “small” for AAA. You gonna see a lot less racing games, or extreme sports, or unusual mid level games. Not cos people stopped liking them, but because publishers can’t justify burning a hundred million on anything that isn’t mathematically destined to become a live-service monster. You're gonna see less weird mid-budget stuff. Less risky & creative new IP. Way less two-year passion projects. Instead you get sequels, retention machines with skins, and bloated 80-hour tent pole games. At the same time, Steam is pumping out more games every year than ever before… but players are not buying more games. Discovery is too hard people's attention is finite. Most games drop and instantly vanish. So yeah. The top gets bigger and bloated. The bottom gets chaotic and noisy. The middle just dies. Once the middle is gone, everything gets safer, blander, more same. Games industry might still make more money. But it’s not really moving forward anymore. It's kinda already happening tbh.
Christopher Dring@Chris_Dring

So, 5/6 years ago, there were lots of big investors of all types (publishers, VCs etc) spending big money on AAA studios and projects. Now, there are very, very few big investors spending big money on AAA studios and projects. Those teams that had that investment are now coming to market with their projects. If those projects hit, happy days. If they don't... well, they will need to find investment to carry on. But that investment is extremely hard to find. Which leads to studio closures and lay-offs. There will be some success stories. There will be a lot of misses, too. My biggest concern is the lack of investment in major projects today, what will that mean for our industry's output in 4/5 years time?

@OluwaHefner @TheCartelDel It’s unfortunate because expectation, past success and the fear of quite literally dying as a (legacy) studio is what is keeping that $100M+ cost up. TLDR of it.. expectation, quality bar, learning/process, devs need paid for the amount of hell to be traveled through. 4/4

@TheCartelDel I wish devs would actually explain and no bs breakdown why games are suddenly costing 100 million to make, even if inflation existed what exactly is spiking things so much, with how accessible game development has become it does not make sense for it to be so expensive now.

@OluwaHefner Then when you think about it.. accessibility to making a game doesn’t really matter when players come to know and almost EXPECT high quality, high bar shit from the AAA studios. Indies and some mid tiers can just make whatever stick the landing, AAA can’t miss. 3/4
