@gkbalogs Lmao! Without micro supervision, you will rarely see excellent finishing from these guys. I struggle to understand why. I mean, common sense should be able to convince a normal person that this kind of work is not acceptable.

Nigerian artisans will literally kill you. What kind of mindset produces this kind of work and thinks, yes this is good to go, I deserve today's pay. Just SMH inspecting one of my stores today.

One of the cleaners at my former place of work, always with his Earpiece listening to music while he cleans, i greet everyone at the office like we're pals, hand shake and a "guy hug", eveyone, at the end of most months , i go around giving some of the cleaners 2k each or 1k depending on how much of my salary I've spent before e enter, including the security guys too, i do this because i know how much they earn, and i can tell you its not enough to survive in Lagos, Fast forward to about 6 years later, i had left the organization and i was part of a committee organizing an event for some executives for a retreat at a very nice resort here in Lagos, i never met the manager in person , but we spoke on the phone e few times and i was on the call most of the times with the concierge team. The day we brought the team, the concierge personel was introducing eveyone to the team, and a tall fine gentle man walked in and she said "oh here's our Manager, before i could even open my hand for a handshake, he screamed my name, hugged carried me off my feet, i was still trying to figure out who he was, and he said its me( called his name) , i couldn't believe it , he was the same cleaner guy at my former place of work, now a whole manager?!!!. I hugged him and carried him this time , i was super excited. Apparently while he was a cleaner he was also finishing at National open university, he told how he's always looking forward to the 2k from me every month.😁 . To cut the long story short, i got 70% discount on everything i did, the room, the food i paid almost nothing. 😁. God can lift anyone from anywhere, never look down on anyone , i treat eveyone with same respect.

@gkbalogs Solid points. All true. Running the “business” is the real deal, not just knowing what business it is.

In the last 15+ years, I’ve had more than 50 staff try to copy our business, join competitors, or take customers directly from under us, all in the name of “I can do it” or “na we dey do all the work… is it not just juice, parfaits and salads?” Unsurprisingly, most of them fizzled out before they started. Not because they couldn’t replicate the product, some even used the same suppliers, and had the techincal know-how, but because they didn’t understand the business of building a business. They saw the surface, not the structure behind it. People often ask me, “How do I protect my recipe?” My response is usually: you mean watermelon and pineapple juice? There’s a lot more to building a business than the product. Yes, product matters, but it’s only one piece. In many cases, nailing consistency beats having “superior” quality. The ability to deliver the same experience, every single time, across locations, teams, and over time, is where the real work is. And that’s why, for me, one of the most unserious things you can say as a business owner is: “I don’t want people to steal my idea.” Because ideas are a small part of your success. Anyone can come up with an idea, not everyone can execute. Another common myth is that you must have a protectable IP or some special “secret sauce” to win., (i don't know why cake people liek to think they have one secrest recipe... 😂😂). It rarely works that way in reality. Yes, where there are clear grounds for protection, take it seriously. Protect what’s worth protecting. But don’t get stuck thinking you need IP to make it big. You don’t. What you need is the ability to build, and keep building, long after the “idea” phase is over. Instead ask yourself these serious questions: - How do I distribute this product at scale? - How do I systemise operations, so the business runs well? - How do I build a high performance culture where people take ownership and standards don’t drop? - How do I keep my brand top of mind in a crowded market? - How do I acquire customers predictably and keep them coming back? - How do I manage my finances properly, so I don’t run out of money? This my friend is where the real work is. These are what separates a good idea from a sustainable business.

1. Drink water, put a bottle by your bedside, drink when you wake 2. Ask your friend abroad to buy your multi-vitamins. Take them daily 3. Stop taking soda and “juice”, eat the fruit with the pulp, chew an orange, don't drink orange juice. 4. Slow down on the carbs, garri, jollef and amala, and do more protein. Termites are high in protein if you can't afford beef. ( I didn't stutter) 5. Sleep longer, weekends are for sleep, not just parties and watching football. 6. Take your holidays, do not exchange them for cash and work all year round. Go to a village or slow area for a holiday once in a while to decouple. Travelling to the UK or Dubai to shop in malls and eat a burger is not a holiday 7. Slow down on salt and sugar, think more of ginger and turmeric 8. Eat suya, eat the vegetables, onions and tomatoes too, all join 9. Slow down on white bread, pasta, etc. Brown rice 👍 is Ofada rice brown? Does anyone know? 10. Have sex regularly. A blow job is not sex 11. Stretch, walk, move. Yoga is good. 12. Be happy, watch comedies, laugh 13. Have an emergency fund. Looking for urgent N10,000 on “Tuesday” will cause hypertension faster than salt. 14. Buy a plant, have a garden, sha touch soil once in a while 15. Be careful with the news you listen to, don't be naive, but don't dwell in the comfort of mockers 16. Fall in love, not mandatory but recommended. Yes, you can love the company of someone, all join. 17. Use deodorant, not Antiperspirants. 18. Guys, change your boxers daily, even if they do not smell. A beard has to be combed and maintained. It's not fallow land 19. Ladies, you also look beautiful without a wig or nail extensions, plus you save money 😉 20. Don't bleach your skin This is financial advice

There was a report I used to send to China every single day. It would take me a solid 2–3 hours of focused work, no shortcuts, just pure effort. Then one day, while I was in the shower, an idea hit me. I didn’t even wait, I rushed out, grabbed my laptop, and tried it immediately. From that moment on, what used to take hours started taking less than 30 minutes. That experience stayed with me. Yes, we all need grace in what we do. But sometimes, it’s not about grinding endlessly or working hard all the time…it’s about stepping back, thinking differently, and working smart. Now turn the ladder upside down. Move smart.

6 weeks before #MomentByMainstack, we had not gotten up to 100 ticket sales. In 6 weeks, we took the numbers from less than 100 to over 4000 and made it the most talked-about event in the ecosystem.
