@TheGers5 More likely that Robertson is asking the police officer if the pitch is cleared, to allow him to go back on to the pitch and confirm full-time and the game is over. As soon as he makes his way on to the pitch, it is announced on TV and stadium that full-time has been confirmed.

SPFL confirm referee's decision amid Celtic vs Hearts 'abandonment' theory thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/16273554… That is a bare faced lie. If we are expected to take Don Robertson at face value that he had blown the whistle then ,why is he in this footage below asking the Police Officer who led the Hearts players off the pitch if the players are coming back out? x.com/i/status/20557…

@gaz49ers @AUSFUTNews Perhaps me providing a reason how the laws of the game may have been applied to allow the referee to end the game legally doesn't suit your narrative? Maybe you have contrary evidence that the laws of the game were not applied, which you would like to share with us?

From an Australian football perspective, this Celtic/Hearts situation matters even more with Aussie involvement at Hearts. 🇦🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 If the reports are accurate and the match abandonment stemmed from Celtic supporter actions, then Scottish football authorities should apply the rules exactly as written. No grey area, no special treatment. Rules are there to protect the integrity of the competition, and if responsibility lies with one side’s supporters, the outcome should reflect that. That would mean Hearts of Midlothian being awarded the result. With Australian eyes closely following our players abroad, consistency and accountability in major leagues matter. The badge involved shouldn’t change how regulations are enforced.

@gaz49ers @AUSFUTNews Perhaps he did, after the 4th official had spoken to MON. Ultimately the referee is solely responsible for the timekeeping, not the 4th official. The final decision on how he determines time is up, rests with him.

@JeanCauvin2 @spfl @sfa The whistle to validate Osmand's goal can also count as the full-time whistle. No need for the 3-blast final whistle we typically hear at the end of a game in this case. Refer to laws 7.3 & 8.1

@ricebilly @NCCMick That is why Don Robertson returned to the field of play on 100mins and an announcement was made in the stadium and on Sky Sports that the referee had indicated full-time for the match. All conducted in line with the laws of the game.

@ricebilly @NCCMick An arbitrary time for a goal celebration, say 45secs, would have taken the match time beyond the 90min + 8min period, so could be legally ended, without need for a restart or further whistle. Though the referee does need to communicate/confirm that to the teams.

And for anyone who claims that after a goal the opposition team need to kick off before the ref can end the game go check what happened after Kenny McLean scored against Denmark.

@dadbegg The whistle for the goal could in effect be the final whistle, as arbitrary time for the goal celebrations would have meant the 8mins injury-time had elapsed and the game could legally end. Therefore no need to restart the game with a centre or blow whistle again for full-time.

Most accept that the game and the destiny of the title was done and dusted when Don Robertson called a halt. I thought he had a fine game, given the pressure. But would like clarity from the SPL/SFA, or any ref on here, as to when/how a match is over. Will add a wee string.

@ffstottenham @JamTarts He was asking the police if the pitch had been cleared and so he could go back out. Police said it was and he headed back out and confirmed the game was over and it was full-time. That's when Sky conveyed the message to viewers, as they have access to the referees audio.

@JamTarts You can clearly see from the footage that the police officer is escorting the players off the pitch, while the referee, Don Robertson, proceeds to ask whether they’re coming back out. This match was abandoned on police orders - it was not finished!

@rgsneddon It took 3mins to clear the pitch of fans. Some VAR reviews take longer. Why would he abandon the game so quickly, if the pitch was cleared and ready for a re-start? Teams informed by referee that it was full-time and Hearts players went up the tunnel and straight to their bus.

History shows us that Don Robertson would never have called abandonment. It is evident that the onslaught which would ensue such a decision would put him, and his family at serious risk of harm. This decision was taken to protect himself from a fanbase which continue to be pandered to, in their riotous behaviour, in their hatred, their bigotry, the terrorist glorification and their mockery of the victims of the paedophile ring which was orchestrated by @CelticFC. It was and is; never, just about the football, with @ScottishFA referees.

SPFL Statement "Firstly, we send our congratulations to Celtic on winning the William Hill Premiership in the most exciting of circumstances and send our commiserations to everyone at Heart of Midlothian following an incredible campaign. “We would also like to thank the referee and his excellent team of match officials for their cool heads on such a dramatic day. Given the speculation about the conclusion of the game, we would like to make clear that, prior to awarding the trophy, we were informed by the match referee that the match had ended and had not been abandoned. "Yesterday’s match showed off the very best of the Scottish game and the drama and excitement that it is rightly famed for. The eyes of the world were on Glasgow and the climax of the William Hill Premiership, with millions of viewers watching the match on Sky Sports and across the globe. "However, we utterly condemn the scenes which saw a number of Celtic supporters encroach onto the field of play. We await the report of our match delegate regarding any specific incidents that took place but, regardless, supporters entering the field of play in any circumstances is wholly unacceptable and puts those participating and working at a match at risk. We note that entering the pitch in England and Wales has been a criminal offence since 1991. We urge anyone with information about any alleged criminal activity to contact Police Scotland."

@c_p1985 @Rangers_Spares_ @spfl @june_crichton I doubt very much if comments from MON would support any appeal. It will be based on facts in respect of timing & the referees report. I also heard that Hearts themselves did not want to return to the field of play and said they were going straight to the team bus.

@Rangers_Spares_ @spfl @june_crichton All the referee had to do was end the game after 98mins. Given the goal was scored on 97min & 30secs, and his decision to end the game was taken beyond the 98min period. No abandonment. Referee applied common-sense and ended the game. All within the laws of the game.

So the ref can end the game early ? The laws of the game state he can add more extra time on but can’t take it away No matter the score or circumstances he can’t end it early. He has to restart it and play the minimum added time but he had no choice but to end it due to player safety 😂 If he ended the match then why did the fourth official or linesman tell Martin O’neill that there was still a minute to play ? Then not restart ?

@jimuckmac @kevmcguiremusic Maeda was certainly not involved in "active play" when the pass from Saracchi was played through. Findlay made a fatal mistake by stepping-out to try and play him offside. Unlucky for Findlay the ball went to Osmand. 🤗

@kevmcguiremusic Maeda benefited heavily from an offside position meaning he was offside. No penalty to Celtic either because the incident was ball to hand.
