There are lots of reasons to be careful about optics whenever picking a leader, but sometimes when the opportunity comes to get some real talent, that overrides the concerns about optics.

Pochettino is a coup for USA going into a home World Cup. He is a top level operator. But not being US-based is poor optics. Hope he puts that old guts and fight onto this squad. They are not good enough to succeed without it despite the hype. Think Tyler Adams knows it too.

@FloodSr80149 @russvought Except NASA was defunded and transportation handed over to private companies - who can't seem to figure out how to do this safely. Apollo 13 engineers got them home because their motivation was the safety of their co-workers, not profit.
