You hypocritical bastards burned a monastery in Kharkiv this week!

I also rescued Lars. He’s from the #Lyman region here in Donetsk Oblast. His home is now under occupation. Lars was a street dog who was taken in by a foreign soldier. When the soldier had to return home, he couldn’t take him and he asked me to go find him. So I did. Lars had it rough. He fought for scraps in a war zone, surviving through russian occupation. That kind of life leaves scars. He needs to be the only dog in a home, or with someone who truly understands how to work with dogs that carry trauma and can show aggression. He needs patience, consistency, and someone who won’t give up on him. Because underneath it all, he is the most cuddly, lovable angel. He’s just broken by what he’s been through. After a full year of trying to find him a home with no success, we made the decision to send him further west in hopes he might finally get his chance. I’m sitting at my desk in Donetsk Oblast right now. The sound of aerial bombs is shaking everything around me, and I’m crying, but for once, these are tears of joy. In April 2024, I rescued Champ. That was only possible because of all of you and because it was the last wish of my dear friend Sergei before russians killed him. Sergei was a civilian. He was the guardian of life in Siversk, Ukraine. He took care of people, of animals, of everything that needed protection. He stayed until the very end. It took me two weeks to find someone who knew the area well enough to take me in. It was already under drone threat. I didn’t even think about filming anything...I just went. Because of Sergei, we didn’t just save Champ that day. We also saved Dexter, who is now living safely in the Kyiv region with a wonderful family. Champ’s home in Siversk is now under russian occupation. Without all of you, he wouldn’t be here. In the 8 months I worked in that area, we rescued over 100 animals. But Champ, and a few others, carry stories that will stay with me forever. Thank you to every single volunteer who made this possible. Thank you, dear Fella, for sharing this.
