@9mmsmg I think it’s because the tar black face with the red lips is associated with Jim Crow, which was infamously known for perpetuating negative stereotypes. I think the reason RDJ got away with it in Tropic Thunder is because he wasn’t perpetuating anything negative at all.

No one can explain to me rationally why this isn't offensive to the average White person, but black face makes them go mentally insane.
