When I was a PVT in Korea, we often got a section of tanks attached to our Company when we went to the field. In the winter, we’d get woke up, half-numb from the waist down, to do roving guard. That’s when my conflict with Tankers began. We’d stop behind whatever tank was running to attempt to defrost our legs in the 15° temperatures. The tank would turn off its engine & another would start up. We’d continue our roving patrol to get behind that one in search for just a little bit of warmth & they’d kill the engine within 2 minutes. This pattern continued on until we realized they were just being dicks & coordinating over the radio. Oh yeah, in Iraq Tankers also stole our MRE resupply drop before we could exit the wood line. They literally stopped in the road & took them, then drove off. Getting shot at with the main-gun twice while conducting counter IED Ops didn’t improve my opinion any either. Luckily we saw the turret turn towards our heat signatures in time & we slid into a wadi.
